y is the subject of the formular the equation cannot be factorise.(12x^2-6x+5)it is an imaginary root.therefore we cannot get the root of the equation.while 1/imaginary root.because there is no value for x like from -2 to 4.if y=1/(imaginary root) the greatest value for y cannot be determined. |
| Re: What Are The Next Three Numbers In This Sequence? by Nobody: 12:56pm On Aug 20, 2017 |
mustapha112:I think the question requires you to plot a graph and determine the required value of y from it. |
| Re: What Are The Next Three Numbers In This Sequence? by mustapha112: 3:14pm On Aug 20, 2017 |
the maximum value of y=5 while the minimum value for y=-5.the given imaginary root is x=-1.7and x=1.7 |

derivative is -(24x-6)/(12x^2-6x+5)^2, equating this to zero, x=1/4 and y max.=4/17. Got the same using x= -b/2a. Am I getting something wrong?? |
| Re: What Are The Next Three Numbers In This Sequence? by MrOlai(op): 5:02pm On Aug 23, 2017 |
Mechanics96: Well done! You tried! Answer is: y =17/4 You got the x coordinate perfectly! Kudos! |

afo7219:How many different groups of 6 children can be chosen from a class of 18 children if the class contains one set of twins who must not be separated? |
| Re: What Are The Next Three Numbers In This Sequence? by Mechanics96(m): 5:35pm On Aug 24, 2017 |
since 2 people(twins) must always be in the group, therefore we have 18-2 =16 more people to chose 4 from. The twin will always join any group of 4 formed to make it 6. So 16C4 =1820 |

what is the meaning of lo.am i wrong? |
| Re: What Are The Next Three Numbers In This Sequence? by Mechanics96(m): 9:57am On Aug 27, 2017 |
Considering the fact that the twin may or may not be in the group, I think; 16C4 or 16C6 =1820+8008= 9828 |
