My son who is 4 years old prefer tablet to injection. He even chew the drugs sometimes. But i believed that injection is better though i dont force it on him since he likes tablets.

Also many adults prefers tablet. Some adults cry at hospitals when they want to receive injection. Some put the tablet inside garri and swallow it....lol

My question is which one is better and more effective

It depends on the condition of the patient and the need for a rapid onset of action. If a patient is convulsing for instance, injection is prefered. Also in emergencies, injection is prefered{especially I.V} due to fast onset of action. However, if non of the above is obtained, then the oral route is prefered due to its advantages such as its easy reversibility in case of overdosage and better compliance.

In summary, both injection and oral route{tablet,capsule, syrup etc} have their advantages and disadvantages. The oral route however is prefered under normal condition because its disadvantages are easier to handle compared to injections.
