Festy4u:
Let y=Log(2x-1) to base 10
Therefore, 10^y = 2x-1
Take the natural log of both sides
Ln 10^y = Ln (2x-1)
Y Ln10 = Ln (2x-1)
Take the derivative of both sides wrt x
(dy/dx) Ln10 + 0 = (1/2x-1)x 2
Therefore, dy/dx =( 2/2x-1)(1/Ln10)

my whatsapp number was there, I don't always put out my number on social media but I wanted to help you. I check Nairaland mostly at nights. if it were really urgent, you'd have forwarded it to my whatsapp.

nonetheless I'd provide the solution here for you now. I hope it isn't late.

please I need a quick answer On this inequalities 1/3x+1/4<3x/8
Re: Nairaland Mathematics Clinic by naturalwaves:
Number 7
If 3 dice are thrown together,
The only combinations that can give a total of 10 are;

6,3,1

5,4,1

4,4,2

3,3,4

2,2,6

5,3,2

Note that, for each of these combinations, the dice can come in any form. Therefore, the number of ways they can appear for each group listed above is 3!= 6 per group.

There are 6 groups. So, the total number of 10s that can appear is 6*6= 36.

The overall possible number of outcomes is 36*3= 108.
This is because when a die is standing against 2 other groups, the sample size will be 36 and there are 3 dice in this case.

Hence, probability of getting a sum of ten = 36/108 = 1/3

Modified :
I did not divide with a negative number. So, the signs cannot flip. It can only flip if I divide with a negative number.
Let us carry out a small test.
From........3X greater than -2
I said....... X greater than -2/3
This means... X greater than say -0.7 approximately
If you try in all the numbers that are greater than -0.7, they will all satisfy the equation 3X greater than -2. For example... -0.6,-0.5,-0.4 etc. If you substitute all these values into 3X greater than -2. The answers you get will all be greater than -2 but if you pick a number that is less than -0.7 say -0.8, you will get something like -2.4 which is less than -2 thus not satisfying 3X greater than -2. If you keep on trying all the numbers that are lesser than -0.7 like -0.8,-0.9-1,-2.2 etc etc, none of them will satisfy the relation 3X greater than -2. So, the signs won't flip.
You can even try out all these values into the preceeding relation 3x + 2 greater than 0 and they will all turn out same way. Thanks.

Lolzz. Yea I think he wrote the question wrongly, he wanted to write x/3 rather than 1/(3x) that is the only way you can get x greater than 6

erm i don't really think so i think if you try out the solution you got it wont satisfy your quadratic inequality you solved(i am assuming the quadratic is correct) . for example according to your solution , zero is a solution since it is greater than -2/3, plug it into your quadratic inequality and see if it satisfies?

It does not satisfy. Will solve again and see where it went wrong when I am settled. Thanks.

X is undefined at 0. Hence x is not equal to 0 and cannot be substituted either. Try out other sets of values and you will see that the answer is absolutely correct. The reason why X is undefined at 0 is because one of the given terms in the question has X as its base. Therefore, X cannot be subtututed at 0. CC: masperano
