How did they reject it? what difference does it make to their admission process?

In fairness to the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, he repeatedly stressed at the Combined Policy Meeting held Tuesday, 22 August, 2017 that the Senate of each university still has wide powers for admission in the spirit of autonomy.

It's really a time to declare a state of Emergency in the Educational sector of Nigeria. Seriously we're sliding down the scale from best to worst. If nothing is done we may hit the bottom sooner or later.


120 as a minimum cut off point is just too low or constitutes/encourages mediocrity in the system.

Oga read well....it is rejected on the ground that anyone that scores less that 200 will not be invited for UI post utme or whatever. That is an outright rejection of the new policy by JAMB.
My question again is....what is our Benchmark? If JAMB is Championing one thing and other Universities are kicking against it. Our education story is never the case of a lower standard, but it is the case of no standard at all. I stand with UI

120 is too low and poor but all this universities are against it under the guise being a world class uni. Stl yet they aint even among the best in africa, besides some of 1st class graduates of this uni's are sometimes poor beyond expectations.

It's very easy to spot the comments of Nigerians living abroad on nairaland.


U.I is one of the best in Africa and one of the best 800 in the world and better than 5200 university in US.

Jamb didn't ask any school to admit any student with 120. Jamb only set the general cut off at 120 then schools can set any cut off they like as long as it is not below 120 if the school like let the cut off be 300 it isn't the business of jamb. they have done their part by setting a minimum benchmark.

Can I call 120 the threshold for Uni n 100 for Poly n what... so what's UI rejecting?

I'm disappointed if the write up is true, jamb clearly said university are free to fix its cut off and conduct its post UME, the school is just been silly.

Is cut off not a minimum score a candidate can get??

Abi where did you read that jamb said all schools must use 120??
120 is the national minimum cut off. School will then set any cut off mark they deem fit.
