The youths of Owerri village in IMO state were keeping vigil last night over the press release by the governor of IMO state concerning the relocation of their traditional and ancestral market.


"PRESS RELEASE
The government of Imo State has issued a relocation order of 48 hours to the occupants of Ekeukwu market and illegal motor parks along Douglas road to relocate to the new place assigned to them. The order will elapse on Saturday 26/8/2017 to enable the government construct a model school and reconstruct Douglas road.

Douglas road has been a mess fir more than 40 years and every successive governments have been prevented from cleaning up the road by indigenes who earn a living by illegally taxing non-indigenes that own the shops. Those that should have complained are the shop owners but the lazy Owerri youths are forming ancestral market. Douglas road needs to be cleaned up and reconstructed with all the shanties removed once and for all.

Demolition is on course and Douglas is already wearing a better look even with the bad road .

Owerri the city of Angels has become the most dangerous place in the South east. Life has lost its values just because of bad leadership. May God almighty reclaim the land from the devil! Amen.

Nonsense!!. What nonsense ancestral market?... Douglas road has always been an eyesore because of that market. Anyone who can relocate that market, build a proper motor park and give Douglas road a decent new look is definitely a hero.

Same way in which Fashola was called all sorts of unprintable names when Oshodi was being cleared. What matters most here is that the project shouldn't be left abandoned.
