Dasuks:
60% of all investment to Nigeria is energy or power related. And 99% of all investments go to Lagos, as it is the financial services centre of Nigeria. The Mega billions headed for egina, usan , bong a and gas ipp projects are all transacted with Lagos banks. Much like North Sea projects are done thru London financial institutions and not stavanger or Aberdeen.

That is where I am pissed with ND governors. It is not that oil is gonna stop being relevant (as all military activity and air transport relies on it ) but that where the business is conducted doesn't have to be where the resource is located. That's what tinubu and co get that the local champions in ND seem to not.

Take for example nnpc's fundraising round of close to 4 billion earlier this year. All that will pass thru
Lagos. It will show on Lagos metrics and no where else. I'm a niger deltan but I....
Hi Nairalanders. There's a ton of sense here.

I have said this before and would say it again.

It is only in the southwest Nigeria that we have visionary leaders by generation.

If we considered the likes of Bishop Ajayi crowder, we would move down to chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Awolowo set a template for the western region, which is what is still sustaining the region till date.

He established that free Education and Olusegun obasanjo took it upon himself to establish Universal Basic Education back then.
Lagos
See Alhaji Jakande, till tomorrow, you'll hear Jakande Estate in different parts of Lagos.
Tinubu had LG funds seized, instead of owing workers, he developed the tax road map and increased IGR of Lagos to 7 billion a month.
He brought Fashola. We thought Fashola was a stooge, but he performed miracles.
Ambode came and we thought, Fashola has done it all, but Lagos is becoming a super mega city. current IGR is about 250 Billion naira annually, yet Ambode pays salaries to the tune of N7billion monthly, without owing.

Ogun State. Aremo Osoba started in the 90s. He came back in 1999.
Gbenga daniel took over and transformed ogunstate.
Amosu is now doing wonders at agbara with lots of industries.

Oyo State nko? From Baba Bola Ige, to Lam Adeshina, to Ladoja and now Ajimobi.

All working with the template of Pa awolowo and Tinubu.

Ask yourself you igbos blindly following that power hungry Nnamdi Kanu, what is his development plan for the south east?
Will he develop one after achieving biafra? Why can't he show you Igbos the road map he has to bring industrial revolutions to the East?
The guy is just a crook and wants to turn to a demi god, if he's not one already.

Ask all your governors from Orji Kalu, Ta Orji, Nnamani, Chime, IBori, odili, etc to show up what they did in Niger delta and South East?

Absolutely nothing.

You 'moronically' think it is buhari that caused your problems right?

Your problems are beyond redemption and Kanu will lead igbos to starvation.

Take a look at his message. hate hate and hate. To call Nigeria zoo, to insult leaders and threaten them. Why can't he show a single chart on how igbo land would be industrialized?

Ogun Has a plan, Lagos does, Oyo too
Ondo is suffering cos of PDP bad leaders.
See what Fayemi did in Ekiti, before that rascal Fayose took over.

In conclusion, why would SW state attract investment? They would cause they have visionary leaders and road map towards development. This is what investors want to see. They would not go to Niger Delta, where the youths take up arms and go into criminality. They would not go to Igbo land, where one idiot whats to break the country and allow people live as slaves under him

Nnamdi Kanu, Show us your plan for igbo land.

Peace and out
Take one crate of Bajinotu on my bill. Brilliant analysis.

BiggyBamBam:
Nigeria is a Joke...
Why can't this stupid country develop Ports in Calabar, Warri, Port Harcourt and the Cargo Port in Gelegele, Edo State?

Everything has been over-concentrated in Lagos for a long time.

Towns with a vibrant sea port tend to attract businesses
Ports in Lagos were developed and run by the private sector, not government.

Lagos state government is always looking out for nonfunctional or abandoned Federal projects and facilities with the view to take them over and develop them with the help of the private sector.Likewise, other SW states are known to help out in reconstruction of federal roads( with the exception of Ekiti since Fayose became governor).

The big question now is why are your governors not doing the same thing for their people.

You should learn to direct your complaints to the right quarters.

Nobody will want to invest in an unfriendly environment... even if you are an indigene of that particular state.
GBAM!

Ifeanyi Ubah wants to build a new 200,000 BPD refinery on Snake Island, Lagos.

Same guy wants to be Anambra state governor, but nothing against him -- he is an astute business man using his 'number 6'.

and they have succeeded.flatee are known to be criminals, but true their propaganda and stereotyping they've been able to at least change your own psyche!

How can states attact foreign investment when the federal government OVER LORD over the states dishing out stipend in the form of federal alllocation to them.

All this mushroom of states that were created by the military government should be scrapped and replaced with 6 or more regions.

In regions, the weak states will be revitalised by the stronger part and we will not be facing this slump in growth.

Take for example, Warri seaport is dead thanks to the federal government that placed more empasis on the Lagos seaport and the Onne Port in River states.

This is not supposed to be. If the federal government can not run port.
thank God is no more lagos seaport alone.although, the deluded yIGBOs will not agree with you.they believe there is no seaport in the east at all.

List of functional seaport in nigeria
Tin Can Island Port.
Calabar Port.
Delta Port.
Rivers Port/Port Harcourt.
Onne Port.

You can verify on npa website and get usage statistics..

As for airports... Nigeria has 30 airports and 26 of the airports are operated by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), five of which are functional international airports. It also has a state owned airport located in Akwa Ibom State.

Each airline has to see first where the demand is,
Are people willing to pay high airfare to fly out of that city or is it a leisure market where people save up their money in order to fly. So the fact that more air carriers ply lagos routes doesnt mean federal goverment mandated them, it means people have more reasons to ply the state
State goverments should create reasons for foreigners to use there state, eg after apkabio built the uyo stadium Visitors increased

So my point is the ones magirnalising southeast are the governors and other leaders
There victim mentality and act of blaming others especially afonja for their problems will not let them understand and that is worsening their problems.Because its like treating a wrongly diagnosed disease.

Exactly, who ever wants to develop ibadan should be ready for ibadan people wrath!..that is the sin of Ajimobi,go to ibadan and see good roads courtesy of ajimobi, but ibadan people prefer amala and money sharing government of Akala....Even if you Bleep up,they can even report you to your mum.

I was told when awolowo was building the first modern stadium in africa, liberty stadium,in ibadan.Ibadan people were like "Awolowo fe fi ogbon gba ile wa fun awon ijebu"meaning Awolowo wants to cunningly snatch our land for ijebus"......and when he was building cocoa house, they were like "owo ti o ye ki a ma pin ni awolowo fi n ko ile gogoro"....meaning,Awolowo is using the money we supposed to share among ourselves to build skyscraper!cheesy

Ibadan people never love awolowo just like ajimobi.Although,Ajimobi really Bleep up on lautech and salary issue!

You have spoken well. At the moment, there are up to 20 new companies under construction at agbara and sagamu-siun axis as I am speaking. Once they get completed, it would be in the record in terms of new investments in the state.

Akwa Ibom did well because they have the largest oil reserve in Nigeria, case of good security and a performing governor.

It's a shame that delta, bayelsa and all SE states are not on the list

We are not the one responsible for your frustration dude. What have you done with the 13% derivative given to u?

What criteria is used for this? They don't count all the new buildings, medium-scale farms, schools, shops, small and medium scale industries as investment inflows? A lot of these things are projects funded by Nigerians abroad sending money back here. They may be called kobo-kobo projects, but if you multiply 1 Million naira by 10,000 people (an underestimation if you ask me), you can easily reach 10 Billion Naira per-year in so-called "foreign investment" by Nigerians in the diaspora. And these are being sent to many states, not just the 5 mentioned.

Benekruku:
"The states that got new investments are Lagos State, which attracted the highest amount of $2.6bn during the six months period, followed by Akwa Ibom with $52.44m.

The Federal Capital Territory followed with $31.51m while Ogun State attracted fresh investment inflows of $5.31m; Oyo had $5.25m, and Rivers recorded $550,000 of investments."

At this pace, Its glaring beyond all doubts that Ogun state is the next big thing to happen to Nigeria. Ogun is rising at a very fast pace which I believe is because of its close proximity to Lagos.

Would have been so good if Oyo state can take a clue and tap into its close proximity with Lagos!

Efficient rail connection. It is not rocket science.

I doubt this report. What comprises investment? If it is any asset that produces income then this report is false. I have seen shopping malls springing up in Kaduna and Imo just between January and now and they say no new investment.
Those malls are likely to be brand chains and the FDI will be credited to the location where the Nigerian headoffice is. That is why Lagos gets a lot of mention simply because most enterprises have their headoffices in there.
