We understand your grievances but should we sacrifice Merit and give scholarship to undeserved scholars. We know there were irregularities in the test and more so some scholars chose to write discipline they didn't put in for due to information.

We deviced strategy for the best to be chosen. Additionally, we are working with top-notch schools for our LSS.
.
For those asking about the possibility of PTDF working out admission in IPS,COE Uniben etc, the last sentence by Kh0001,two days ago, somehow answered it.

I just got off the phone with my school rep just now and I don't even know what to tell them anymore undecided

This stress is unnecessary and avoidable to say the least.

According to a student in the institute who also just won PTDF LSS, the following was deduced:

"1. All the Institutes are specialized in various areas so they should find out what the want to do first before choosing.

2. Some Institutes give internship placements(not a must o)  but they help. Like mine. We are currently on internship. So it's 8 months course work 3 months internship before defense and project . you know not all centers go on internship. I m currently working which brings me to my 3rd.

3. What experience u re looking for. Like someone said. Same Lecturers virtually teach all Institutes except some core courses. The job I just got, was due to both  experience and the knowledge I got from the Institute.

4. I ll stop at duration. You probably know this. COE is 1yr 6months. Others are a year. So it matters too."

For those of us with LSS, is it rational for anyone who is currently enrolled in one of the public unis to start hustling admission in the top notch schools because ptdf has showed up??

That is starting a fresh program entirely by next year.

AUST has a centre of excellence in Material Science (PAMI which has taken off) and Petroleum Engineering (which hasn't started). They also have the Gulf of gunea energy research institute that is almost completed.
So if you are interested in Material Science or Petroleum Engineering you can choose AUST.

Unlike many other specialised institutes in Nigeria (masters and PhD only), AUST is an international institution (with students from many African countries) and works with the very best lecturers in various fields from different African and non-African nationalities, some of the lectures you'll meet here also teach in IPS and other specialised institutes.

All masters programs are 18 months (Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Material Science/Engineering and Petroleum Engineering), PhD is three to four years.

No placements, because it will be unfair to the international students who make up over 60%. However there are field trips within and outside Nigeria as it has close ties and even memorandum of understanding with Total, Snepco and Mobil (exon-mobil).

You will have to apply for admission and write an exam to gain entrance for MSc or go through an interview for PhD for any of those five courses. You will also need to get the ptdf scholarship on your own. I think the school fees is still $15,000 per year.

The school is properly organised, no strikes, you get your certificate before you leave, before the end of the 18 months period, there is accommodation on campus for everyone, akin to that of foreign universities (a day student option is possible for those living in abuja). The school also takes care of your feeding, laundry, etc; it also has sporting facilities, a gym and a swimming pool. All you just have to do is simply read your books.

Finally if you participated in the Engineering PhD interviews this year, then you most likely have met an Aust lecturer. The three groups were headed by Lectures who teach or have taught in Aust, and you will find this to be a common occurrence especially for Petroleum engineers applying to IOC's (very important side benefits). The current head of SPE in Nigeria also lectures in AUST.

I did a masters in Petroleum at AUST btw 2013 July to 2014 December.

Application, entry exams, etc is usually from September to November for January Starts. Check news papers or visit them at
Km 10 Umaru Musa Yar'adua road (Airport Road)

(I just copied this numbers from my admission letter, I don't know if they still work). I think it's visa phone, I don't know, since I'm not in Nigeria ATM, I didn't try them.

I think you can also differ your admission until the next session in AUST, if you secure admission but not scholarship, while you are applying for scholarships; some of which are tied to AUST but also others like PTDF. If you get ptdf local scholarship, then you can differ until you get Aust admission.

About some scholars writing discipline they didn't put in; what if the discipline they chose initially didn't display. How does ptdf intend to separate them from others who changed their test subject due to preinformation. A lot of us worked hard for this, read very well, and didn't see our courses in the option.
So we did the course closely related to our intended course. This happened to me last year, and this year. Hope that's not the reason I was unsuccessful last year. I look forward to your prompt and candid response. Thanks

To the best of my knowledge if you didn't get the mail, it doesn't mean you can't be awarded the scholarship. Normally during the interview process, PTDF always ask prospective scholars to come with a copy of their admission letter. This will be checked during the interview process. But for the case whereby you didn't go to the interview with your admission letter and you didn't receive the mail as well, it may mean the candidate is not successful. All the same keep your fingers cross and look forward to list. We hope it will come out soon. I wish you guys the very best in your various endeavors.

I was once in your shoes. I finished from Cranfield University some years back. Be rest assured PTDF will take good care of their scholars.

Admission application closes tomorrow (Aug 31) in AUST, Abuja. Form is N10,000 for Nigerians and 50 dollars for foreigners.
