as much as i fully understand why these wildlife reserves are made, unless you feed the people that live around these parts, they will continue hunt these antelopes.... as a great leader once said: an hungry man is NOT a free man!

We hardly eat goat meat in the North. You can get a whole goat for as low as N4k.. ..

Three hunters (Munkailu Sani, Mai-Riga Ahmadu and Umar Hussaini) arrested July 19th around Tungan-Kifi at Yankari Game reserve in Bauchi state. The hunters who are all from Kashera reportedly killed a hartebeest (African Antelope) and Waterbuck (another type of large antelope found widely in sub-Saharan Africa) before their arrest.

They were fined N100,000 each or five months in jail. They were unable to pay the fine and so all three were jailed.

I don't think you know what a game reserve is.

Funny thing is, more money would be earned from keeping the animals alive than killing them off. Most tourist sites are man made and artificial but no, we want to eat everything in sight. Tourism that should generate income for us we're killing the animals that people should pay to see.
