My only problem with this deal is that there is no offset agreement but everything else is perfect. Boko boys are going to be in real problems now... |

SupremeCourt:take time to confirm your posts before clicking the submit button. According to your logic if Nigeria gets the Tucano then the BALANCE OF POWER has shifted. that means West African countries (Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Burkina faso)) and other Africans (Angola, Mauritania, Mozambique) that operates the Tucano are technically superior to us. . That means the balance of power has been in their favour for quite some time now ... (according to you??) |

lionel4power:Take time to analyze his post again. Are their Tucanos well equipped as what we will be getting? He's not happy because we're getting Tucanos but because of the configuration we're getting. Most of them can't even afford such. |

lionel4power:Correct again. It is the weaponry array, it's range and accuracy that makes our Tucanoes deadly. |

lionel4power:No African country bought Super Tucano with laser guided bomb or laser guided rocket Only 3 African nations have Paveway bomb but only a few dozens, RSA, Maroc, Arab Egypt Nigerian Paveway bombs are double the number of Paveway bombs in the entire African continent No country in Africa has Advanced Precision Kill Weapon, but Nigeria is getting 400 NAF Tucano of Nigeria has shifted balance of ground attack power in Africa to Nigeria. Israel to sell F-16As with upgrade package | 29 AUGUST, 2017 | SOURCE: FLIGHTGLOBAL.COM | BY: ARIE EGOZI | LONDON Normally fierce rivals, Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries are co-operating on an upgrade package for elderly Lockheed Martin F-16As. Israel retired its "Netz" fighters earlier this year and is now looking to sell the 40-strong inventory, which would be extensively modernised by the partners. No details of the enhancements has been revealed, but the Israeli air force previously upgraded of its F-16C/Ds under the "Barak 2020" initiative. The aircraft gained an avionics and mission system enhancement, as well as structural strengthening. Modifications will begin only when a customer has signed for the aircraft. The F-16As have been in Israeli service since 1980, but most recently have been employed as aggressor aircraft for training missions. ADVERTISING |

Guys, please could we let this Tucano argument rest. We have trashed it enough already. So we can properly enjoy our 4 days of holiday. |

Adminisher:Thank you Mr Paveway engineer. Why stop at 20? Why not say 50? If all glide bombs on the market are released under equal atmospheric conditions and release techniques, they'll all land at the same distance? Stop making stuff up. |

SupremeCourt:NAF Tucano changes balance of air power totally in West Africa and somewhat in Africa as a whole. this is what you posted, if you dont see anything wrong with it then fine. secondly, Other African countries has guided bombs and it hasn't changed the balance of power or Status quo. numbers are insignificant in real life. having the ability to design, develop and manufacture is what matters. 400 units wont last forever. |

Nigerdeltaboi:well since the Pakistanis are dragging their legs then we could snap this 40 jets and upgrade them. I'm sure Elbit systems or IAI would love the contract. |

Adminisher:Smart guy have you had of the Al Tariq guided bomb? . Standard range is 40 kilometres but increases to 120 kilometres with a folding wing kit but the extended range version with a rocket motor has a range of over 200 kilometres. The system can be fitted with a proximity fuse. . with such specification South African should have invaded Britain by now since the balance of power has clearly shifted worldwide. ![]()

Adminisher:the high intensity missions flown by IAF and the on these airframes , common NAF is not stupid. it'll cost a fortune even to maintain. 2 squadrons OF Mig-35s will be a far better deal than getting old retired f16A's with ancient avionics. |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by iblawi(m): 6:55pm On Aug 31, 2017 |
Adminisher:I will even prefer the Mig-35 not to talk of SU-30. |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by lionel4power(m): 6:57pm On Aug 31, 2017 |
tdayof:Yea... I'll have preferred the NAF go for medium weight fighters like the F16. MiG35 or others. The JF 17 is a light fighter, (too light for a light fighter) it will always try to approach the capabilities of the F16 but will never reach or match it. . its in the same class with the Tejas, F-50 golden eagle and gripen. (fvking T50 and Tejas). . anyways the F16 can always be upgraded technology-wise but my main concern would be the structural integrity considering that those jets were commisioned In the 80's. . |

You all should know invading another country isn't all about dropping bombs. Give the republic or Gambia 500 su35 and and 2000 eurofighter typhoon. Successfully Invading Russia will still be almost impossible. Imagine something like the krashuka-4 waiting for you, s400 and other electronic warfare components trust me they'll end up loosing. All your bombs, missiles will be faced with missiles from s400 while another unit of s400 is tasked at laughing on the aircrafts. In Africa, it's only "we we" that our technology can serve. |

| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by tdayof(m): 7:07pm On Aug 31, 2017 |
lionel4power:The Tucano is the best fighter we can get from the west. They'll never sell to us f16, f15 etc and if we're to look at gripen, typhoon etc, they're just too expensive. We can get aircraft with matching capabilities from the Russians and Chinese. I want to see a J10 in the nigerian Air Force or a flanker. |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by tdayof(m): 7:11pm On Aug 31, 2017 |
lionel4power:Lol I'm just saying ni. War/invasion is just more than dropping bombs. |

tdayof:youve said the truth one thing I have learnt concerning defence matters in all this years is that OVERALL SYSTEM.. NOT PLATFORMS is what matters. individual platforms does not make your win wars but how you integrate it into an overall systems and strategy is what gives you the edge. . whether we buy Falcon or MiGs or Flankers doesn't really decide the outcome (victory or defeat). Isreal could sell them to us In secret it wont be their first time selling fighter jets in secrets ask South Africa ![]() |
