. I just taya sef, other than being a bird that feeds on carrions ,I don't know of any health implications it poses to those that eat it.....,
Vultures are bag of diseases. When you see them at close range, you will understand better. If it's not properly cooked like suya, that's disaster waiting to happen.

A man was apprehended in Yenagoa, by members of the Bayelsa state Vigilante Network led by Comr. Bunas Samuel michael, for allegedly cooking and preparing vultures and selling them as chicken meat to the general public. The man was apprehended at the popular slaughter place, at Tombia Market, Etegwe Yenagoa and has been handed over to men of the Akenfa Division, Bayelsa Police command.

Bayelsa Vigilante apprehends Man, Women, who sells Vultures as Chicken meat in Yenagoa.

The man was apprehended when field commanders of the Vigilante network led by Godwin Avidi, were on patrol around the market axis, at exactly 11:43pm on Wednesday 30th August.

According to Godwin, the patroll team observed suspicious movement at the slaughter place, and trailed it.

" to our greatest imagination, we saw about thirty dead vultures, all prepared to be placed inside a hot pot of boiling water, we called the attention of the police and handed the suspect over to them, before then, he confessed to us, that, he uses dead meat bones to attract the vultures and then uses chemicals to kill them, and he has been in this business for years, selling them to market women and chicken traders at Major markets and chicken sales point in the state", Godwin said.

It was gathered, that the suspect is currently in the police net, and the police have already taken photos of the exhibits, which will be availed to the public soon.

Similarly, three women, who identified themselves as Doris, finegirl, and beauty, hails from Ughelli community, in Delta state, were also apprehended by the Vigilante network at the Tombia market a day after.

They confessed selling Vulture meat and carcasses of donkeys to unsuspecting buyers.

The women confessed that, they import these meats from neighbouring states into the state and sell at cheap and affordable price to buyers, mostly those who own restaurants, bars and canteens.

Speaking with the Yenagoa coordinator of the Vigilante Network, Bunas Samuel, he advised all Bayelsans to be on alert and be careful on what they consume, he called on Nafdac to live up to it's responsibility and checkmate the activities of food hawkers.

Bunas also called for calm and promised that the Vigilante will fish out every form of evil in any guise operating in the state.#

Not that I encourage eating it .. but am just saying Vultures, as an example, fall into several categories. As consumers of carrion, they're forbidden to members of certain religions. They are also reported as being pretty vile tasting. Their eating habits makes them potential vectors for disease as well. Vultures are not, however, toxic in themselves as are several other birds....The only thing that would make an animal "inedible" is if it collected toxins in it's flesh. Even that does not always stop us from eating things....Throughout Africa, some villagers consume vulture meat daily ..

Catfish are 'bottom-feeders', as well as lobsters and they aren't 'unclean.....The poison in one pufferfish is enough to wipe out 30 humans, and there’s no known antidote.

Yet, many people eat it. Called fugu in Japan, the meat of the pufferfish is a highly prized dish that is prepared by specially trained, licensed chefs. so
Constructive submission...thanks for the enlightenment. Love you

I don't think killing and eating the vulture is the actual crime they were arrested for... I think they were arrested for using the vultures to impersonate chicken and also selling it to unsuspecting customers and to the public. That's the crime.

When you poison the vultures with chemicals placed in rotten meat and then sell the dead vulture meat as chicken . You can't be more cruel and inhuman.

If it was sold as chicken it would be wrong. That is the issue.

Of they advertise vulture for sale, it won't be an issue!

A few portions of vulture meat is good for the mind and soul. I love the smell of grilled vulture meat in the morning. It smells like victory.

On a serious note, I prefer my own filet-of-vulture served with a chilled red wine of suitable vintage, and garnished with spring onions.

Just remember NEVER to eat the vulture's head, because all of your hair will fall out within a matter of days, leaving you as bald as a vulture.
