JackBizzle:It's not sleep. The degree of stimulation that is required to put a person out of these states is what differentiates them. |

hopefulLandlord:@op Tho I haven't read all the comments before commenting but in field of medicine, there is room for possibility of anything. So the notion by saying it isn't possible is false. It might be possible that no case of such impossibility(ies) has been reported. Back to the thread. There are different forms of hallucinations Is it visual hallucinations or sound hallucinations? Which did you observe? |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by adepeter2027(m): 1:09pm On Sep 02, 2017 |
Seems there is problem somewhere. Consciousness and unconsciousness in this context has taken different meanings. We need to reach a consensus on yà definition of consciousness/unconsciousness here. JackBizzle:Partly yes. There are two types of sleep REM sleep NON-REM SLEEP And consciousness could be attained at any level of this type of sleep Cc: catfishbilly |

adepeter2027:So what then is a gpod definition of unconsciousness |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by Hairyrapunzel: 10:32pm On Sep 02, 2017 |
JackBizzle:It's possible. It depends on the type of anaesthesia used. I don't think you were in coma or unconscious though |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by CatfishBilly: 11:10pm On Sep 02, 2017 |
Sounds like you had a hypnagogic hallucination Jackbizzle. It occurred as you were drifting to sleep due to the medications given. Am I right? |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by trendphemmy(m): 4:57am On Sep 03, 2017 |
there are various anaesthetic drugs dat can cause disassociation which could lead to hallucination. example is ketamine( commonly used in private hospital) |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by Mekanus(m): 7:03am On Sep 03, 2017 |
Op it's obvious the doctor used the anaesthetic; ketamine on you. This anaesthetic, due to it's unpleasant psychological effects (e.g. nightmares and hallucinations) is restricted to high-risk patients, although it's a good analgesic. |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by hopefulLandlord: 7:13am On Sep 03, 2017 |
CatfishBilly:these doctors and their big big terms, please, break hypnagogic down for laymen like us |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by CatfishBilly: 7:27am On Sep 03, 2017 |
hopefulLandlord:Hypnagogia simply means the progress from being awake to falling asleep. It is characterized by a whole lot of stuffs including hallucinations. In Jack's case, since he said it happened after he got the anaesthesia, it definitely would be triggered by the anaesthesia. Examples are Ketamine and Nitrous oxide. However, Ketamine is much more associated with Dissociative hallucinations like out of body experience and near death experience. |

| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by JackBizzle(op): 7:41am On Sep 03, 2017 |
CatfishBilly:Interesting. The surgery was about two hours but it felt like 5 mins. I cant really say when the hallucination started |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by JackBizzle(op): 7:43am On Sep 03, 2017 |
trendphemmy: trendphemmy:Ketamine? I hope that wasnt what was used on me. Would that make the pateint unstable when he or she wakes up? |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by JackBizzle(op): 7:43am On Sep 03, 2017 |
hopefulLandlord:Lol. |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by CatfishBilly: 7:51am On Sep 03, 2017 |
JackBizzle:That's okay. I didn't expect you to. People lose perception of time while under. So, I think we've been able to prove that a person can hallucinate while "unconscious" |
| Re: Doctors And Scientists, Pls Answer This by trendphemmy(m): 7:53am On Sep 03, 2017 |
JackBizzle:it sometimes give out of body experience, and its effect can last as long as hours after surgery. |
