The level at which Fake or refurbished Laptops we commonly refer to as “CHINA” or “CHINKO” infiltrate our Technology market is deeply worrisome. Many people are robbed of their hard earned money by this as heartless dealers swindle them because they are not informed enough to distinguish between FAKE and ORIGINAL Laptops.

What Are Their Common Features

Here are the ways you can identify FAKE or Refurbished Laptops. Nevertheless, the features listed below are not exhaustible; you are best advised to identify a trusted dealer.

1. The Keys on their Keyboards are not placed correctly (not in order): Refurbished Laptops usually have their keys function incorrectly. The
pattern or position of Keyboard keys is normally 1234567890 QWERTY UIOP ASDFGHJKL…. The numerical keys (1,2,3,4…) usually have
other key symbols on top of them that can only be realized holding the “SHIFT” keys simultaneously when pressing them. If for instance
key “2” gives anything other than “@” when you press it, then, the system is refurbished. Also, the backlash key with the symbols “\
and|” should follow the key “P,” though the position may vary in computers. If it realizes something different when pressed with “SHIFT”,
pls, the system is refurbished.

2. When the Screen Doesn’t fit perfectly: Original Laptops; both new and “London used” have their screens perfectly aligning with their
frames. If there is gap between the screen and the frame, then the system is refurbished.

3. Every original Laptop should have stickers near the keyboard. The stickers must identify the Processor the computer is using e.g. Intel;
the RAM size or Memory. If after starting the system, a different Processor or OS shows-up other than the one on the sticker then, the
system is fake.

4. When the battery producer name isn’t the same with the producer of the Laptop.

5. Check the back of your Laptop if it has identification, service tag or serial number and then visit the website of the producer to check if
they support such identifications. E.g. My Dell Precision has a Service tag I use on Dell website to get drivers for my system.

6. You can call the Producer if they have your serial number in their Database. If they don’t, then your system is CHINA!

All this notwithstanding, Laptop sellers in Nigeria always find “sharper” ways to sell their fake Laptops. You could fall a victim if you aren’t properly guided or informed. To save yourself from trouble, you need a dealer who has been tested and trusted. Nanish Tech LTD is one of these dealers who have integrity in the business. They deal in original new and USA-used Laptops that you will be certainly delighted to purchase. Aside the ONE YEAR WARRANTY you will get on any Laptop you purchase, they will also, help you install and drive software Applications on any Laptop you buy. I definitely know your likes will come here to rant insultingly.

Could you educate us on what refurbished means aside an old rag, with destroyed internal system re-packaged and flown into Nigeria?

Or does any of these countries especially China where badly wounded Laptops are bandaged and called Refurbished, use the so-called refurbished Laptops?

I don't blame you sha, good the sensible ones are calling to make useful inquiries.

A simple google search will clear this up for you. You don't really seem to want to know though

read and be educated

Your keyboard theory doesn't hold water though. Keyboard layout vary from country to country, especially as regards your Shift+2 theory. There are modern keyboard layouts that actually have the @ as a stand alone key. My2cents

No. 3,... not every original laptop comes with a sticker, most freedos don't, so does that mean they are China?

I wonder if you read the article with comprehension.

I was not talking about the symbols but functionality. And I gave you example on that. I said in the article that Keyboard keys could be arranged differently depending on the Laptop but the functionality sticks. For instance, if the key "2" has the "@" symbol on top of it but when you press it holding down SHIFT it gives this " instead of @ then the truth is the system has been tampered with.

It is just that.

I have been in the market for over 5 years and I understand perfectly well the functionalities. Not every functional Laptop is good. I will take you to some places in Computer village, what you will see will surprise you.

If you say I speak gibberish then it is fine.

It is either the sticker is pealed off or the configurations are just included in the manual. In both cases, someone with experience in Laptops will ask you for the sticker or ensure the manual is included in the pack of the Laptop. It gives more credence making sure the configurations on the sticker and or the Manual match with what the system has inside. After that, one should also, look up the same configurations on the company site with the serial number.

Bro, a lot happens in the market I bet you that. Guys are doing alot to make it in Naija. Unless you have someone to help you import directly from Yankee or a reliable dealer here in Naija, one needs to apply caution when buying Laptops especially. Again, a lot happens. Any friend or relative at the computer village who knows will tell you whats up.

I'm not siding with a different OS appearing other than that of the sticker making it be a fake or China system. For example HP makes a laptop, Say HP 450 (G6) and what it came with was Windows 7 or 8.1, would you say upgrading the laptop to Windows 10 makes the laptop fake or China, meanwhile HP themselves know that not every customer would opt for Windows 7 or 8.1.

Secondly, a London-Used laptop owner who bought his laptop from HP directly could decide to change or upgrade the OS to 10 using the latest update say, Windows 10 (1809 update), does that mean it's fake? The OS doesn't say because it all depends on user preference and there are laptops that won't carry certain OS due to the bits their processor can take, as well as other BIOS factors.

Ohh, why didn’t I stumble upon this post a couple of months ago. I recently saved up more than 500 bucks and I decided to order a gaming laptop from xiaomi from china. I hate myself for this mistake. The first two weeks of use, I was very happy, but then I encountered a number of problems and after consulting with a specialist, I realized that I had acquired a fake. As a result, I had no other choice and I decided to buy a new model. I started looking for the best models in the middle price category and came across some excellent models at https://gadgetguide.in. So I would advise you not to repeat my mistakes and choose a laptop very carefully!
