Peter Onu even served in acting capacity and was being propped to contest for the sit and the lobby for his candidature was not from the Nigerian govt but from other African nations, notably Tanzania.

By refusing to endorse and vote for Onu, the Buhari junta robbed Nigeria of a chance to have a substantive representative as Secretary-General of the OAU.

The Chairperson is the ceremonial head of the AU (OAU) and is occupiable by Heads of State only. So, IBB or Obj occupying the seat is in no way related to the matter at hand. What we're talking about is the Secretary General of the AU (OAU) who is the head of the AU's secretariat.

It is unheard-of in history that a self-respecting leader of a country would vote against his country’s candidate in international diplomacy. But here, you have it in black and white, in a book, that former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari would rather have a Fulani Muslim candidate from Niger instead of Nigeria’s own esteemed Dr. Peter Onu. The same Buhari attended a masked pro-refugee Confrence in London chaired by David Cameron early in 2016 dubbed "Save Syria " where this same Buhari was urging European countries to accept more Arab-Muslim refugees only for him to respond to journalists at the venue who asked him what he thought of the British govts plans to deport about 30,000 Nigerians in which he responded by saying Nigerian asylum seekers where not credible candidates for asylum and that Nigerians are criminals.
