Yes they paid $500 for the administrative fees and the necessary documents. You know Uncle Sam won't do anything without getting money but there are exemptions for those who can claim hardship. Knowing how Capitol Hill really functions, I doubt Congress will beat the 'deadline' Trump set for them on codifying DACA.

Although Obama side-stepped Congress in issuing the DACA executive order, I believe that individuals who pay $500 to the U.S. government every two years to remain in the country, shouldn't be in risk of deportation (except if they've committed a felony). About 800,000 of them collectively pay $400 million to the government, and more than 9/10 of them are working, thus contributing to the nation's GDP.

So, I am calling on Congress to do the right thing and pass an act similar to DACA (or the DREAM Act), and for Trump to sign it into law.

President Trump has already hinted that "No action" would be taken on deportation of the DACA recipients for the 6 months interval. So it's really to up Congress to do their job. Whether they can reach the deadline remains to be seen. But it seems Trump has cut a deal with the Democratic leadership of the House and Senate with regards to raising the debt ceiling in correlation to the relief funds for Harvey victims.
