cool shocked ;DI have someone recommend a Nissan Sentra 2007 model for me.
I really do not know much about cars.
Please has anyone used this particular make before?
I also can get a Mazda CX-7 all within same price range . The Mazda will be 100k more expensive but I don't mind it if it's a better car .
What's your recommendation for my 1st Tokunbo car a Sentra/Teana or CX-7? .

Scroll down for all pics including cx7.

Note: it will be used mainly within state , small errands here and there and daily to and fro work. No outside state travel or major express road travel in the nearest future with it.
Thank you

CC: the car gurus in the house

UPDATE: I got a sweet and sound CRV instead. Thank you all for the contributions.
May God bless our hustles , Amen . May he bless us all to gift out tear rubber cars next time .

If this is the very one you're considering, it looks clean enough; and if you don't mind the size of a Nissan Altima or Toyota Camry as a first timer then you could go for it. There are a few variations to the Teana, and it really will be unhelpful to you to go into generalizations. If you don't mind you could post the VIN (or alternatively send to the number in my signature) so I'd be able to specifically address that car and its genre.

Ok Oga Costee, this is the exact one I'm going for. I will request the vin and post it.
Thanks

Sorry to hear about that
I just feel Toyota is overrated and I'm willing to try something new with an okay budget.

Which Nissan model did you use in the past?

What's your recommendation for my 1st Tokunbo car. My budget is 1.5 million max.
Thank you

CC: Gazzuzz and all the car gurus

It's identical to the maxima and altima but targeted at the Asian markets more not American market.

The engine is a solid one that's a QR20DE fitted to xtrail and Nissan primera last edition.

The gear is the only one that needs extreme care it's an Xtronic CVT not your normal automatic means if you are changing the fluid which should be regularly (check the manual for interval) don't pour palmoil, vegetable oil or Goya oil grin

Above all I would buy the car, a 2007 for 1.5m tokunbo it's only a tokunbo Toyota yaris of same year you can get for that amount.

I don't know if you will get a VIN report for it considering the target market, but ensure its not converted and passes the necessary inspection.

GAZZUZZ even though you don't like Nissan, a good word of advice on a clean tokunbo Nissan is not too much to ask grin

I wasn't requesting for the VIN for the purposes of some report. Thus for example if I'm able to confirm with the VIN that it's a QR20, then it can't be CVT. It's the VQ35 that's fitted with a CVT.

please don't. You can go for a 2003 Honda Accord (End of Discussion) or 2003 Toyota Camry. I will not buy that Tokunbo Nissan Teana for 1 million naira. Nissan wahala no dey give warning. Like you said Toyota is overrated but how technically sound are you with cars?

Nissan issues:

Changing fuel pump
Overheating
Spark plug wires and distributor issues

just to mention a few.

Dare to be different? Hehehe!!! Please budget a lot of time and cash after using the CAR for ONE YEAR and your mechanic will be glad to receive you all the time.

.
1. Only Nissan is stricken with that disability
2. An innate feature of every Nissan
3. Wow what can I say! Plug wires and distributor issues on a QR engine!

Don't make laughable (nay ignorant) criticisms.

I have had it with Nissan. I don't really care if this has different features as in plug wire and distributor but I will never buy the ride. Nissan is not worth my attention because I know better.

I'm afraid you don't know any better. The point is shun sweeping statements, and be more ecclectic in your assessments.

This car has 3 engines, the cvt started in the 4 cylinder in 2005 upwards for the first generation, this is 2007 version. It's most certainly xtronic CVT in the car

Wrong... Wrong..wrong.... Maybe you had a squirmy mechanic ruin your car for you.. Don't cast Nissan... My colleagues bought a 4runner and a Nissan pathfinder each.. The 4runner owner has changed his engine and alternator....while the pathfinder still keeps going like forever after distributor coil change....and alternator lead replacement...

I have seen someone complain like this about VW Golf MK3 @ a dealer's office... I was puzzled and I told him to please open the hood...a peek at the engine explained his woes.... A mechanic who helps you manage...is your enemy... A mechanic building a house and needs all the money hence dishonest... Is your enemy and lastly roadside techies are not meant for Nissans....

Summon courage and try the fx35 or Murano... cheesy

The Teana now has three generations. Model J31: 2004-2007; Model J32: 2008-2012; Model L33: from 2013 merged with the Altima. The car here is J31 and it comes in three engines: QR20, QR23, and VQ35. As I said earlier the CVT is available only on the VQ35 for this model, which is V6. The QRs gave way to the VQ25 in J32 which became fitted with the CVT. But all this is not really necessary for now. The OP has no idea about his prospective car has come here for assistance. I think we should give that from a stand point of certainty and not probability. That was why I requested the VIN so that we give comments strictly from the point of view of the model. I agree it's a J31, but who says it's a 2007? The evidence of the dealer to our OP? I'm sure you know what I'm implying here.

Reliable source, but there is always room for doubt.

Powering the Teana was either a 1998 cc, 2349 cc or 3498 cc engine which matched to automatic transmission. Trim levels were 200JK, 230JK, 230JM and 350JM. The car was based on the Nissan FF-L platform . In December 2005, the Teana received new headlights and taillights, chrome trimming on the bumpers, enlarged foglights, front legrests and newly designed gauges. The car was also shortened slightly, and the clear rear turn signals were replaced by amber ones. XTronic CVT was also mated to all the engines.

Yeah nurey there's room for doubt. That last line is not accurate. We'll talk the car when we get the VIN.

You have taste for very rare things are you from this world at all grin

But the one you posted has a salvage value, what kind of accident did it have. If you like what you see you should probably buy, it shares some part with mazda MPV the others are extremely rare on Nigerian roads.

But you can always order parts online, this cx-7 fuel efficiency is questionable.
