Nice. Lagos just keeps setting the pace. Government should consider events like this. All of us know about Tour de France, London boat race and the likes. These are events residents look forward to watch or partake in. Things like this are part of nation building. Benefits :
It will attract tourist
It will reduce the numbers of touts around as some of them will get busy training to be first.
Residents will always look forward to catching fun hereby making them happy. A happy country is a good country
Sponsors will come to build infrastructure
Source of revenue for the government
Source of revenue for the traders aroumd such events
Ideas and motivations will be gotten from such events.
Abi o my brother , we really in a pitiful country where different regions blame either lagos or Abuja for their problems.

I smile when I see such competitions cos I gladens my heart , we don't need large wasteful spending (called prize money) to lure foreign athletes , let's put good prize money to be earned by Nigerians n Africans sef

If we had a REAL swimming federation I expect an open swimming league , we have lagos ondo , ogun (sw) with large rivers , niger anambra benue dey there sef bayelsa rivers etc

From there swimming clubs can be formed and Gbam we got less idle youths , national icons n peeps younger ones can grow up aspiring to become , communities proving their superiority over others via sports not violence ...

Gimme ANY national/state sports federation to run and let's see whether it won't become a nationally recognized sport , even our football still not growing thanks to useless administrators .

I still respect uzor Kalu cos of enyimba (pardon my digression)

Correct! Glad to know their are people who think same way too. We should always encourage our own. If we don't, nobody will. I am glad to see how our NPL is picking up, slowly as it may seem, it is advancing. Open swimming is one nice initiative. Imagine the an Illaje competing with someone from Rivers. Sweet it will be!
