We don't have that in Nigeria, however, routine checks are done at toll gates if need be all over the world

So how about the N1.5 on fuel prices that Obasanjo introduced to replace the toll gates, will it be removed?

Fashola is simply a failure no matter how you look at it. He likes making life more difficult for the poor masses he did this in his second term as gov of Lagos. You don't need any toll gates to maintain any road. This govt said they will remove subsidy so they can use the money garnered to develop existing roads and build new road projects that was their promise. How can we all pay through our nose all the time and still we have not enjoy what they took the subsidy for?

Fashola lack foresight he should be remove. He always have something to say, Fashola is only full of theories he can't and won't perform since two years no practical from Fashola only theories and he always have ways of using big grammar and figures in defence of what he has done or intend to do simply to deceive us. We don't want no grammar we want practical achievements, he has none yet.

I think the government should go by this because i don't know how the toll fare is going to be collected and returned into the government account without some individuals getting a huge cut out of it and giving just remitting just peanuts to the government

But with the 1naira per liter billing, there's a way the government can enforce it by actually collecting the money before it is lifted by the petrol tankers and the filling stations recoup it back by adding a naira to the present pump price

It's really gonna tell on the masses though.. The government should only implement it only if there's no other alternatives

Toll gates were given to politicians. Example under Obj (before he disbanded it)The toll gate in Ninth mile Enugu was being managed by the Minister from Enugu State.

Politicians will hijack this process. Even if we're taxed 1 naira per litre, politicians and civil servants will still eat the money.

I believe the best thing is for a law to be passed encouraging Reputable Private individuals and companies with access to funds to build roads and put toll gates on them. The companies will still pay tax to the FG, a win - win situation.
