989900:I don't know why simple things like this are soooo difficult for our politicians. For God's sake under this same Fashola, a private company built a world class road and put toll gates on it to recoup their funds. Why is it so difficult to do same at Federal level. |

| Re: FG To Reintroduce Tolls On Federal Highways by Goke7: 9:25am On Sep 26, 2017 |
signz:Politicians make a lot of mega bucks from road construction, there are budgets for all Federal roads every year but they will never be done as the funds will be embezzled, now if you concession all the federal roads to private firms where will the politicians see money to steal to recoup from their expenses during their election campaign? This is the issue, reason why there will always be stiff resistance to refineries and airports privatization. We are really in a big mess bruv |

Obinoscopy:Obasanjo said since they were increasing price of petrol then, taking away the tolls was a reasonable thing to do. Fuel price is still up...and then some, now they want to bring back the tolls. Everywhere Fashola enters Na just to find way to milk citizens dry. Question now is, why do I still now pay tax? Told you people to fight against subsidy removal, una no gree, you said it was favouring some people. How this was a problem I still don't get. Healthcare we pay 100% Electricity, this same agent of Hades has increased tariff by the way how was your last months billing? Please tell me one single thing the govt does for you as an individual & citizen of this country? God forbid this man...God forbid this administration. Tufia! |

clarocuzioo:Dunce! It was stated right there in the article you're commenting on that MAN paid the minister a visit to thank him for the on going Lagos - ibadan road rehabilitation as well as the other one in the South East, and also for providing the NBET with funds to stabilise electricity. They even listed the projects the Sukuk bind would be used for. But because of your craze for attention you ended up writing nonsense. |

Dangote trailers, ifeayi uba tankers, otedola tankers are damaging the travel carriage ways nationwide, see heavy duty trucks damaging roads persistently, parking on highways, blocking hustlingvtravellrs . It is not the poor masses going to their home towns or the hustling interstate traders in mass transit who are trying to survive that you vent your road funding frustration. Look Mr Fash, face the Mack Truckers and tankers(or build cargo rail lines) and leave poor masses alone from this ya toll gate musing. Lets call spade a spade in this country and stop all the hypocrisy ![]() |

Tolexander:The difference no worries is that levy is now 5.5 naira on litre and is supposedly remitted to the Ministry of works yet they have never accounted for that money and now the want to rebuild toll gates which is a just a very bad idea |

refreshrate:That's is Fashola Forte using illegal toll to steal feom the masses |
| Re: FG To Reintroduce Tolls On Federal Highways by tete7000(m): 9:56am On Sep 26, 2017 |
kingphilip:This argument has been debunked and laid to rest. You cannot charge money on fuel as not all who buy fuel use it to power motors and ply federal roads in particular. To say it is impossible to collect tolls is nobody's business. Only mentally lazy people give such excuses. Has Lagos state not been collecting tolls on lekki road? Let federal government be ingenious about solving problems for once and stop looking for shortcut that pass the bulk of their problems to others. Tolls are means for maintaining roads, it charges those who use the road directly and it is silly, stupid and insipid for Obasanjo to have allocated millions of naira to get the toll plazas demolished overnight. Even if he couldn't find the effective use for them then, would it have been out of place to have left them untouched? His and Ogunlewe greed to collect undue money from fuel tax led them to doing that. They spent millions demolishing because of their mental laziness, another government will come in now and claim they are spending billions to reconstruct. What a people, what a waste? Nigeria indeed has a long way to go. |

Zombie, with all the huge funds APC has accumulated, show me prove of projects that are commusurate with the funds, subsidy removed, TSA fully implemented, taxes raised, CBN giving the FG funds illegally, highest foreign and domestic debts, increase in electricity tariff with erratic power supply, efcc recovering billions, yet absolutely nothing to show on ground but on papers, people are suffering and hunger is at is highest rate in the country, even some APC members have admitted the failure and you are defending rubbish. Be healed from Zombiezim in Jesus name, amen. |
