Personally, I won't want to pay for a Range Rover only to be given a Toyota Yaris.

I don't know why simple things like this are soooo difficult for our politicians. For God's sake under this same Fashola, a private company built a world class road and put toll gates on it to recoup their funds. Why is it so difficult to do same at Federal level.

Politicians make a lot of mega bucks from road construction, there are budgets for all Federal roads every year but they will never be done as the funds will be embezzled, now if you concession all the federal roads to private firms where will the politicians see money to steal to recoup from their expenses during their election campaign? This is the issue, reason why there will always be stiff resistance to refineries and airports privatization. We are really in a big mess bruv

That's the only thing this failure of a minister knows how to do, and that's the only change this demonic party called APC knows how to implement, electricity tarrifs were raised without stable electricity, TSA was fully implemented, subsidy was removed, taxes were increased, deductions made from bank transactions, billions recovered by EFCC, highest budget so far in the history of the country, astronomical increase in both foreign and domestic debts and now they want to start collecting tolls on the highways, yet no visible project to commusurate these heavy funds, electricity is highly erratic with their propaganda generation, Nigerians, enjoy the change you voted for.

Fashola is simply a failure no matter how you look at it. He likes making life more difficult for the poor masses he did this in his second term as gov of Lagos. You don't need any toll gates to maintain any road. This govt said they will remove subsidy so they can use the money garnered to develop existing roads and build new road projects that was their promise. How can we all pay through our nose all the time and still we have not enjoy what they took the subsidy for.

as long as you have the kind of politicians you have in abuja, this will never happen. To even allow Lagos state repair the airport road, it almost God himself coming down. The National stadium in surulere is lying in ruins as we speak

Obasanjo did the scrapping then, and introduced a N1.5 levy on every liter of petrol bought as substitute.

Citing the amount toll gates were generating was too small compared to the amount meant for the maintenance of roads and the money not reaching the government.
He also said these toll gates have outlived their purpose and also causing accident and delay.

Fuel price is still up...and then some, now they want to bring back the tolls.

I think the government should go by this because i don't know how the toll fare is going to be collected and returned into the government account without some individuals getting a huge cut out of it and giving just remitting just peanuts to the government

But with the 1naira per liter billing, there's a way the government can enforce it by actually collecting the money before it is lifted by the petrol tankers and the filling stations recoup it back by adding a naira to the present pump price

It's really gonna tell on the masses though.. The government should only implement it only if there's no other alternatives
