While the so called Turkish government using a proxy to support KANU push for referendum probably to sell arms in case it gets out of hand bit at their backyard they are victimizing their neighbors that want to threaten their source of income. These people self. It is only for their interest and quest for political and economic powers to submerge little regions. |

Butterworth:This is why the north will never support restructuring. A Nigeria restructured along regional lines will make things like referendum and secession possible. All these military brouhaha against IPOB today is just aimed at shutting down restructuring idea that is gaining traction so that the status quo will be maintained. |

Truth234:I understand your point bro. What I was trying to point out its that referendum is a matter for a constituted government. Fighting it demonstrating on the streets would amount to be termed rebels or 'terrorists' like in our case. If the entire state in a zone out region are been controlled by the same interests, they can also be able to achieve this feat. |

NK should have used the strength of his followers and one time popularity to push for restructuring/ regional government just like the Kurdistan's. M sure by today, if not achieved it would have been more than 70% done. From a restructured Nigeria, referendum will be easier. Instead of resulting to insulting the whole country, you don't fight your elder brother, who you know is far stronger than you one on one, you use wisdom. win your other siblings over, then you have a formidable force, not creating enemies all around. Restructuring will be the best for this country, no doubt. |

Connoisseur:Exactly what I was trying to point out, that the Kurdistan and Iraqi central government also drag it out in a civil war between 2006-2008. It took US intervention to end it in 2008. Thereafter, the Iraqi allow decentralization of power. So ours is not unique, except it drag on for far too long. |

Be very sure of one thing if Iraqi Kurdistan stubbornly goes ahead to declare independence from Iraq : Turkey will take all the necessary steps to destabilize the new country. That,in my opinion, will be Turkey's last resort. Many countries have done that in the past. Think how Rhodesia tried to destabilize Mozambique the minute that country became independent of Portugal in 1975. Rhodesia simply created RENAMO to make Mozambique ungovernable. If Turkey isn't reassured then I see it deploying a similar tactic. |

teamsynergy:you read my mind for saying this..the Iraqi govt and the Kurdish both claim ownership of the oil rich region...so the reason why the Iraqi govt couldn't do anything kos they have the Nations wealth and any hostilities like military crackdown will cause doom for an already war ravaged country... also there was dialogue and mutual understanding between the regional goby and the main country... |

dometome:Arafat was poisoned because he clamoured for a two states solution which Jewish hardliners vehemently rejected. They wanted all Palestinians lands to themselves just because some books told them they are the owner of the land. I think you need to go back and properly read your history books. Ariel Sharon doubled the number of settlers on Palestinians' territories. He introduced blockades that turned Palestinian into some sort of prisons. His regime was apartheid-like as many Palestinians, Lebanese and other Arabs were murdered because of his decisions. He was accused of war crimes after facilitating the death of thousands of Palestinians in the hand of Israeli sponsored Christian Lebanese. In fact, after his death he was referred to as a butcher. Does all this signifies the action of someone who wanted two states solution or peace at all? Yet that is your hero, the person your drool over. Aren't you the classic definition of an hypocrite? Turning history on its head just to make a dumb point. http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/11/world/meast/ariel-sharon-5-things/index.html |

Butterworth:if the leaders of Igbo land can agree to referendum, there is nothing anybody can do about it. ipob is not a legitimate representative of Igbo people. nobody voted for them. they should have tried to convince the leaders or form a political party and vote in people who are sympathetic to their course. not calling for war through hate speeches. secession is not what you achieve in a day. its a long term process. read about this Kurds referendum or Catalonia and Scottish referendum. KANU thought he would just ask for secession on radio and it would be given to him just like that without doing the necessary groundworks. |

Butterworth:that's probably because corruption is not their fundamental problem...that's y things work in the western world...in Nigeria, our case is different even if Nigeria were to be restructured along regional lines I bet you, our problems will still remain. because corruption is deep rooted inside the average nigerians skin. there would still be sectionalism even within the same region |

peterphd:How is that a news? All media organization have bias towards people or countries that matters. Aljazeera always portray Qataris as perfect people. BBC is biased towards Europe, especially United Kingdom. CNN towards any America leaders that will foster the Jewish interest. Channels Television leans towards the APC lead government. |
| Re: Brent Crude Oil Jumps To 26-month High As Kurds Holds Referendum by Butterworth: 3:09pm On Sep 26, 2017 |
schoolboij:Voting people in to campaign for secession won't work because secession is not permitted in our constitution. The only thing those voted in can do is demand for the constitution to be amended and Referendum included in our constitution. That's why Kanu and his IPOB members choose civil disobedience to press home their demands because that's the only LEGAL option available to them and it worked perfectly well for them, Now even the core North are faintly talking about Restructuring Thanks to KANU and his Members. And don't mistake a call for a Referendum as a call for war, the only body calling for war are the FG. |

schoolboij:oga nothing like that, its peoples choice. if the people of anambra feels they want to be on their own, we diagoue it out and they all agree own being independent, why not free them? i mean no body losed nobody gained. its simply peoples (15 million people) choice its not a one man decision |
| Re: Brent Crude Oil Jumps To 26-month High As Kurds Holds Referendum by Nobody: 7:03pm On Sep 26, 2017 |
Butterworth:we are saying the same thing. the current Representatives won't move a motion for referendum. so voting people who would do their bidding is the smartest move. civil disobedience won't work as you can't get 100% compliance since their are many Igbo's who are for one Nigeria or are benefiting from the current arrangement. |
