when the brakes of the automobile is pressed, friction sets in between the tyres and the road, thus creating a dynamic friction with the moving car. From this, we can infer that the ;

Frictional force created= Total force applied by the brakes.

F=Fr.

Taking dynamic friction=¶=0.7
g= 10m/s^2
mass=1500kg
Initial velocity= 20m/s
Final velocity= 0m/s
Fr=¶R........1
also Fr=ma........2

;¶R=ma

¶ m×g=m×a

¶g=a

; acceleration= 0.7×10 =7m/s^2


From V^2=U^2+2as

and U=0

20^2=0+(2×7×s)

400=14s

; s=400/14

s= 28.57m
; Distance travelled during that motion=28.57m

Thanks. Actually this was the exact answer i got but the answer given in the PQ was 29.15 and the correct answer was not even among the options. Thanks once again

From what I've noticed,the differences in the answer you got and the answer they chose is caused by the difference in the value of 'g'.
In most of the practice questions, the solutions are carried out with the value of g being 9.8, unless it is stated otherwise to take g as 10.

Try solving this question again using 9.8, you'd have 29.15... that's what I've observed.

Overall, Geography admits the least, not up to 65. Political Science, Psychology and Economics share similar quota of 65-70.

Sociology accept more candidates ranging from 70-85.

Sometimes these quotas are not used up while other times, they are exceeded.

This year, from news reaching me, UI will admit around 2,500 candidates which signify tougher screening and lesser quotas for some departments and faculties.

That's somehow mean on UI's side.
Problems on motion are easier to solve when g=10.

Now they are expecting us to use 9.8

Vx = Ux + gt, Vx is the final velocity..

but since g => 0

Vx = Ux + 0t

Vx = Ux.

Hence, from that it is deduced that the initial horizontal component of the velocity is the same as the vertical component of the velocity
