Nigerian society is too tainted with religious extremism for even the highly educated to function properly. If you are highly educated and you still believe Jesus walked on water/rose from the dead or Muhammed was a peaceful human being - then your education has failed you. The purpose of education is to promote awareness/consciousness. That's why if you meet the top scientists/intellectuals in the world, they tend to exude a zen like (or yogi like) quality. One possible reason for this is that they have reached a point were they are fully convinced that their ignorance far outweighs their knowledge. Only arrogant people say things like: "There is God." or "There is no God." The truth of the matter is nobody knows. And I mean NOBODY. Look at all the problems we have created in Nigeria because of people who are "absolutely sure" of the existence of a sky Daddy - Boko Haram, killing of twins; prosperity gospel aka spiritual corruption; killing of 'witches'; etc. Yet, the most significant consequence of our extreme religious belief is that Nigeria is a country of 180 million people, the vast majority of whom are AWAITING the end of the world. If you believe the world is coming to an end, why would you be FULLY committed to make your society a better place? Most Nigerians believe that this world does not matter because they are gonna START A NEW LIFE WITH THEIR SKY DADDY after the world ENDS. This is one of the most fundamental reason behind Nigeria's underdevelopment. So, until a sizable number of Nigerians are committed to creating HEAVEN on this Nigerian EARTH, rather than awaiting some sky Daddy to descend from the sky and save us, corruption and underdevelopment continues to no end.

“Stop bullshitting yourself. Learn to say “I do not know”. What is wrong with that? I do not know carries a tremendous possibility. The moment you destroy “I do not know” you destroy all possibilities of knowing. The very longing to know you destroy. Confusion is better than stupid conclusions. In confusion, there is still a possibility. In stupid conclusion, there is no possibility.”

Can some people ever catch up to greatness?

Omoluabi no be anybody school mate.

First Nigerian Professor of public health ~ Prof. Oladele Ajose (Lagos state).

Above is the very first professor of anything in Nigeria. A medical doctor by profession.

He was the most senior African on the academic board of University of Ibadan. When it was time for the British to hand over UI to Nigerians, the Igbo dominated NCNC ensured an Igbo Professor Kenneth Dike who was away on sabbatical in the USA was called back to become the vice-principal ahead of his senior Prof Ajose who was more qualified, physically present and interested in the position.

When it was time to also name the Principal, Kenneth Dike was equally chosen ahead of Prof Ajose

It is noteworthy that Dr Akanu Ibiam who was also Igbo, was the Chairman of the University Council.

Prof Kenneth Dike would go ahead to recruit Nigerians into UI, but out of the 108 newly hired, only 3 were Yorubas, and the remaining 105 were from Dike's and Akanu Ibiam's Eastern region.

Prof Ajose resigned and moved to the new Western region established OAU to become its pioneer VC, since the federal government posts was only merited by the Igbos who had partnered with the educationally disadvantaged North. Yet this same Igbos till today continue to bemoan the Northernization policy of Ahmadu Bello, who was Northern Premier. As far as they were concerned, they secured their own Eastern region for Easterners only, they dominated the Federal positions, and the North should have also been made open to their greed.

So when you hear some people wailing about marginalization, they are only longing for a return to an era when merit is to appoint Igbo.

Dominated by Yorubas as expected by virtue of receiving Western civilization and education before others.
Many years down the line, the igbos have taken advantage of same education and boost of the highest number of Professors in Nigeria. Beat that!

I'm from Ogun State and my state alone has produced more heavyweights than the 5 states in your entire region has produced since independence.

We have 2 Presidents - Shonekan, OBJ
2 VPs - Diya, Osinbajo
Speaker FHR - Dimeji Bankole
CJN - Adetokunbo Ademola, Teslim Elias

Out of the first 3 SANs ever bestowed in this country, 2 are from Ogun State - FRA Williams and Awolowo.

On the other hand, the Highest Igbo man in politics is Ekwueme who was a slave to Shagari. Mind you, Shehu Shagari is from Sokoto the seat of the Caliphate.

Hence, it's logical to say the most senior Igbo man in Igbo political history was a slave to the caliphate.

You have an unverifiable past, a frustrated present and a break future. Just shut up your wide mouth and serve other Nigerians in silence until you and your folks have enough commonsense to act like sensible human beings.

It's the educational achievements and exposure of the SWeners that made your fathers hawk ice water in the SW, you to hawk gala in Lagos and your children are already warming up to hawk in Eko Atlantic City.

If they decide to ban hawking today in the SW, your folks would die of starvation.

Bia @ OP what is your source? You should provide a credible source and if it is actually a product of your personal research effort, say so and then tell us the methodology you used in arriving at this statistical result. This would avail some folks on here the right to brag with confidence. Lol
After all is said and done, i must commend you for this. Kudos.
