On what bases is a man the head of the family if he can't shoulder the family's financial responsibilities single handedly....

He is head not just because of Responsibilities but because It has been made so from The Beginning.

You just emphasised on Financial Responsibilities when there are lots more than that.

Head of the Family is distinct from Bread winner
It is of importance that he heads in all areas but for whatever constraint he might have, then the wife should support。

whether he can pull up on taking care of the family's needs or not it is a natural hierarchythat he is the head no matter how broken he is

even a dead lion still remains the king of his territory till another takes over

These days most men Now see it as something compulsory for women to contribute in the family, a woman's support is meant to come in Wen the husband is having some difficulties and this should happen in rare occasions....i see no reason y a man who can't carry the finances of the family will still claim to be the head, I mean Wat is he heading?

Sorry to ask, how old are you? If you are below 25, then it's the reason why such a thought came to your mind. If you are above 25, then you need to examine how you came to this point in life. If you are 25, the you need to start associating with reasonable people who will offer you meaningful things in this life.

Not a single poster can reasonably answer her question, grin grin grin grin
They are busy saying it's the natural order of things,
Lol.
op is confused please give her an answer and stop attacking her for asking questions.
Some even chose to be condescending and ask for her age Instead of just giving a straightforward answer. grin grin grin

But a living dog is said to be better than a dead lion...

@ OP, who else would be the head? You? That's why a woman would choose who she wants to be her head.

A wife is meant to be a helpmeet. If the guy happens to be slack financially(for a period of time but is actively seeking ways to correct that distortion) why not meet the needs of the family as much as you can bear?
A man with a sense of self worth would not be comfortable having the wife foot the financial obligations of the family...

That's because we love deluding ourselves, plus, no one has a 'straightforward answer'. Since the family is God-ordained, only God can give a perfect answer to the question......... Oh well! grin
