An old school friend called yesterday to inform me about a job opening in a Federal government agency that is one of the regulators in the oil and gas industry. The job comes with a price tag of 1 million naira. I am required to make an initial payment of 500 thousand naira and to pay up the remaining balance when the appointment letter is ready. After all the explanation I thanked my friend and told him to give me time to think about it.

Now the question is: can you pay money to secure a job? what if its a scam? what is the guarantee that if it doesn't work I will get my money back? been a corrupt act can it be reported to law enforcement agencies if it doesn't work? can a written agreement on a matter like that be legally binding?

Am not considering the offer as am against any form of corruption and am equally employed even though the pay is not much. But I will like here you opinions.

The questions should have been directed to your friend and not us. He is in the best position to guarantee the safety or otherwise of your money.

That your friend must be one of these custom officials currently plying their trade on social media.
It's rather unfortunate he is ur friend.
The decision is yours to make anyways
