The funny thing about the WhatsApp group, is that only current scholars are on it. It’s possible that some of these scholars are already in the UK (like me) and might offer useful advice for settling down in the UK or maybe ptdf offers them some assistance.
But believe me, there is safety in the multitude of advice and this forum offers that. Anyone with reasonable information (previous scholars etc) can offer useful information here. And this forum is anonymous.

I believe there is the 'success' part b4 the 'induction' part... except you have concluded that the email sent to people to update their admission status translates to mean success. Assuming that is the case, don't you think they'll have been inducted by now.. Or at least contacted to come receive award letters? One thing is sure though... The credibility of the process is debatable.

Exactly.
I remember how you (OSS) guys disturbed them.
LSS guys can we at least seek answers from PTDF via email with two things(our application status and induction) in mind. If it fails we go on twitter.
Its more than three months we wrote the test and about six weeks we were asked to update our admission status and till now nothing. Personally, It's a bit unconviencing that the admission status update means we are successful, even when I had assumed so.
Those on the whatsapp page please can you join us so that the email messages could be disturbing?

"Those on the whatsapp page" indeed. Believe me when I tell you that those whatsapp peeps come here to peek for updates.

At least as scholars, they know the implications of decentralizing information on this type of issue. But they choose to continue ignoring the consequences anyway.

Much ado about the fragmentation, fate will take its course.

I see no reason for castigating OSS scholars for creating a whatsapp group. Of what benefit is their discussion to you people. Why shouldn't they when de are struggling adjusting with oyinbo weather facing their studies. Who has time to discuss here. They are battling on survival as they is finance logistics issues.

Instead of you people to voice out your opinion on nairaland, social media and bombard the ptdf with emails like how OSS guys did, you guys are looking for people to help and waiting for feedback. This life na per head. Everyone has his /her own problem.

LSS candidates who were quick to form a whatsapp group will soon run out of what to discuss... They should remember to add PTDF Secretary to the group else they'll be only talking to themselves.

Fellow PTDF scholars in the house, I just got admission into CGRP uniport for my MSc programme. I am to pay an acceptance fee of 100k before they can issue me admission letter. My major challenge is that after paying that amount of cash and at the end of it all we didnt hear from PTDF ,would they listen to me or give enough time to pay off the fees? I heard CGRP school fee is approximately 2million naira which I currently dont' have in my account .

Secondly, to be on the safer side, I thought of buying another form for normal MSc programme which I think does not cost much compare to CGRP. Perhaps, if we didnt hear from PTDF atleast I will be able to finance it to the end. Please house what's your take on this,am I making the right decision?
Re: 2017/2018 PTDF Scholarship Scheme (Overseas And Local) by salahudeentope: 7:37am On Oct 15, 2017
Seriously I feel everybody criticizing the whatsapp group creation is biased. Think about the multitude of information we needed to share, think about convenience, imagine yourself about to go to a visa interview and you needed an important info yet you had just 2 mins to get it, which would you prefer a whatsapp group or NL?

That is just a glimpse of the several issues we had to combat. We were pressed hard against time. We had to many things to do with so little time. Literarily every second mattered.

Also the volume of info, if we were to share them here, I'm sure you all will be the ones suggesting we go get privacy, that we are disturbing you too much.

I just got the time to go on web now since then. Finally I'm settled in now.

For those looking to apply next year, I wish you resounding success.

For those that will still criticize, I'm sorry but like you are trying to do (get what pleases you), we made the decision we think is easiest and best for us (the whatsapp group) so it has nothing to do with keeping legal information away from anyone.
