Our military was in the toilets a decade ago

Try 2 decades and I'd say we were already stepping on the tracks of obsolescence
first time am seeing real talk from real Nigerians.

to be frank I got bored with all the talk of Nigerian military superiority when the truth is that we're dead on arrival.

we fly alpha jet same with Camerroon.

SSBN have you guys asked yourselves what France would do with all those Mirage 2000, super etendard and mirage F1s when they retire them?

it's ok men. I should never have mentioned Beegs in the first place. The dude is dead to me.
I don't get it why Nigerians are so edgy.. everything nah fight.

anyway to speak the candid truth Mr Beegs messed up a big opportunity. he had the time, the audience and the enough news to saturate his blog.

he should have modernized it. by now he'll probably be competing with defenceweb.co.za for ranking.

not to talk of the wealth.

but I don't blame him, blogging Is hard if you don't know. plus he was probably frustrated waiting for NAF Su-27 for 7 years which didn't Materialize.
I still see Jimmy, peccavi and yagazie in defenceweb...

defenceweb is boring for my taste...

How far true is these...?

I got these from one of my twitter handle source;

#"I..." West Afriqiyah & Nur led #BokoHaram killed several Nigerian AirForce QRF airmen. Some held captive.
Many more images are already pouring in on this attack, yet the military hierarchy wants us to believe all is well in the NE.

Those images are really disturbing. We are far from winning this war, yet far from the truth.

he has his personal reasons, he might have a demanding job or something related. tweeting on Twitter doesn't really take much effort so he might have thought that would be less demanding.

I have a great respect for that guy... starting a blog when most of us didn't even have a clue on what goes on on the internet. those days whenever I do a military search on Google his blog always pop out on my search results.

then it was beegeagle and skyscrapercity forum.

This proves Boko Haram ia truly a spent force and is seeking media relevance. Since they lost the capability to terrorise whole towns and seize territory the group has lost media relevance. The loss of Sambisa was a death nail to them. See how eager they are to show the world they are relevant by shamelessly capturing their babarity and depravity on one of their captives.

Its been bad news for Boko Haram since Tukur and Abubakar took the reins of the Army and Air Force.

They can't hand them over to Chad or Cameroon. Those countries lack the expertise and infrastructure to manage 4th Gen aircrafts. Romanians and Belarussians fly Chads fleet of MiG-29's

And France won't help keeping them flying. Think about that mean France can control there air force. Don't do what France says no more air force

so Chadians are daft right? they cant learn? what guarantee do you have that they are not currently training them on those platforms.

me thinks when the mirage 2000 or mirage f1 is replaced by rafale then Chan or Cameroon would get some. you just watch and see.

It takes a lot of infrastructure to train military pilots. Being a soldier is easy, entrusting an airman with a $20 million airplane requires robust training and maintenance. The educational system in that country is virtually non existent. It cost Nigeria about $500,000 annualy to train one airman. The Cameroonian airforce will be armed to the teeth by now with French planes if they could handle it, maybe protect its secretes. They cant. Besides Nigeria, South Africa ir Kenya, few countries in Africa have dedicated training schools for combat pilots.

You make it sound like a pilot cant be trained in another country from ab initio to advanced training.

Well lets just forget it.

Two things.

1. They cannot afford it.
2. They do not have qualified student pilots to train.

Sounds cras i know. Buy you gotta realise Nigeria is an unusuall country in West Africa.

So,Nigeria has both the expertise and infrastructure to manage those aircrafts??

I've lost faith in this country's military, from attack oriented to barely being able to defend itself and you expect pride??
The truth is that we have failed other African countries and ourselves...this is a failed country!!!

Odunayo you gotta be honest Kozmicity is correct. Our leaders have failed us.We should be livid with rage, not making excuses for the criminals. And we should drop this political correct culture here where one is condemned for being negative. We have more satellites in Space than all of Africa combined. We gave a GDP of $1 trillion if measured in PPP. We have carried out more military operations in a 25 year span than any other country in Africa. We've been at war without rest for 15 years, even in the midst of war we've deployed forces to Liberia and Sudan. We deployed combat helicopters and 800 men to Mali. Just recently in January we spent $350 million on an ungrateful and entitled ECOWAS to solve the Gambian crises. We deployed our newest warship to Gambia and deployed air assets and reconnaissance planes to Senegal.

YET YET YET.

Between 2005 and now we spent $1,2 billion on combat planes alone yet we still keep twelve 35year old Alpha jet trainers as the backbone of the Nigerian Air Force. We spent a quarter of a billion dollars buying MiG-21 junk, today there are just six in operation, after losing expensive pilots to crashes. Tiny countries are humiliating us and actively working against our interest because they know we are WEAK at the moment. If this doesn't drive you mad then I have nothing to tell you.
