All these self-righteous preachers. You can't even live up to half the standard you preach.

The aim is simply to look righteous while you remain dirty on the inside.

Humans has no capacity to live up to God's standard of righteousness, that is the reason for the coming of Jesus christ.... So He will become our righteousness in God.

Go back and read your Bible. This time, read the new testament slowly.
If the kind of ministers you prefer to listen to are those that tell you no one can be perfect, you're being misled. And perfection here is not by human standard, it's by God's. And holiness is by having the consciousness of God's will and standard in all your ways. So, Yes! One can live above sin by that measure. Now go and actually read your new testament and ask for divine understanding. The Letter Killeth, But the Spirit Gives Life!

in other words, you agree with taming sins instead of killing it?

You can't kill it. It is in your flesh, your corruptible flesh.

You can only live above it by subjecting the flesh under control through the Holy Spirit. But anytime you thread the part of flesh(which will surely happen as human) it will show up

Abraham, Enoch these were men Jesus Christ on earth was faced with various temptations and trials yet without sin. True: he’s our righteousness and through Him we are sanctified and made holy but would God say you should be Holy as He is if He knows you can’t? There’s no excuse to try keep pressing on till your body and other members is completely for the Lord.
You can be like Christ if you keep to His Statutes

Who told you Abraham and Enoch lived without sin?

God bless you for this OP. I finally have a peace of mind as I thought I'm the only one with the understanding of not "nursing" sin but outright purging of it.
Teachers and scholars alike these days keep saying, 'oh, you know what? You can't once and for all leave sin; it's a gradual process". Then I ask them why Jesus told the adulterous woman to 'go and sin no more', if she was meant to reduce the rate of her adultery, slowly and one step at a time.
May the Holy Spirit continue to fill us till we overflow. Amen.
cool

Go and sin no more was an empowerment not an order or advice.

The woman has no power to stop sin except she is forgiven and empowered by christ. She can stop for a while but she will still go back to it. That is the human nature.

Obviously, your choice of word was just for argument sake. Apostle Paul used the word 'motify'. Do u kno what that means?

God says "be holy for i am holy". Find out more about grace from galatian 2;8-end, Titus 2:11 and romans 6. Ignorance will not be an excuse on judgement day.

Try and find out if he was refering to his past or present. When the bible says: all have sin and come short of God's glory, He was refering to the past (for a born again). Acts 17:20: the past God overlook, but now He commands people everywhere to repent".

He used present tense. He never said he was.

The tense is not very important here. What is important is the context. Pls read 1 timothy 1:12-end and get the context right. He was talking about his past, before his conversion.

Stop living mythological lives
When will Christians become thinking humans?
It still baffles me that after 200 years we still can't think.

Christianity has nothing to do with anyone's soul
Its a well packaged web of lies

Once you begin to uncover these lies, the whole religion falls, and you see it for all it is.

Do you guys really think the world started 3500 years ago?
Have you ever seen anything living made from clay?
Do people procreate without intercourse?

The creator of the Sun
The wind
The waters
As mighty as those things are

Do you really think the creator s gonna take paper made from the tree which he created himself?

God is very powerful, in short the most powerful, that's why he couldn't send an African saviour
The saviour had just to be from Israel
At a time when there wasn't wireless tech

Think of how many people that would have died from Palestine to Africa without knowing any Jesus even at the time he was living?

God is kind and God is love, when will Gods pity switch to Africa?
Everyone needs to know we have been under siege for thousands of years.

Religions are keeping that siege from ending
That's why we aren't developed
That's why we won't grow
That's why we won't think

Look around you, Africans rest at the bottom of the social ladder anywhere in the world.

When will my Christian friends become reasonable?

Your politicians have been swearing on the bible for decades without anything happening!

You dare swear with Ayilala or Ogun and you don't die within seven days?

What kind of God do you believe in?
The one who got your people into slavery?
Who commanded your mothers be taken as harlots by the Arabs?
The same God who commanded the castration of your fathers?
The same God that allowed your people work to death on those sugar plantations?
Ignorance kills faster than any devil
Ignorance doesn't kill individually
Its highly contagious and kills by the multitude

Do you think you have to shout for God to hear yet you say he is everywhere?

You have to find him yet he is omnipresent?

My argument is that those who gave us religions did it for economic, social, political reasons
The earlier we start looking for God outside the oppressors eyes, they faster we grow.

Peace!

The Bible is our Manual to Life!!!

And what's the essence of the Holy Spirit you received that doesn't give one the power over sin. Don't forget Phil. 4:13.
Again, Jesus does not 'nurse' a situation, He 'heals' it.

Before he was saved, Yes. (And not chief sinner while being an apostle). Go figure! It's obvious you'll use just any scripture you can lay hands on to excuse sin.

Don't mind him. Just like the Bible says: "When they read Moses and the law, the veil covered their eyes. And even until these days there's still a veil covering their eyes". They read the letters of the Bible, forgetting that the letter killeth but the Spirit gives life.

You can't work in the spirit 247 of your life. Anytime the flesh shows up, you are liable to sin.

"Liable" to sin? Yes of course!
Can't work in the Spirit? No sir, I don't believe this gospel.
If truly we're one with the Father and He surely abides in us, I see no reason why we "can't" work in the Spirit, we just might "choose" to ignore the Spirit due to the workings of the flesh. But guess what? That's why Jesus had to die on the cross to pay for the sins we are "liable" to commit due to the weakness of our flesh -we call it Grace. And please, Grace isn't one's licence to sin but to an opportunity to learn and be better in Christ Jesus.

You can't work in Spirit everyday of your life. Be realistic. The flesh will show up once in a while. God made it that way to remind of your humanity.

Hahaha! Ok sir. I truly understand you. We all have our own perspective of what Christianity is all about -the faith, Grace, Holy Spirit, redemption...and all.
But before I proceed, kindly permit me to ask you this question: does the Holy Spirit in anyone take sick leave or something? If the answer is no, then the responsibility falls back to the vessel, the man hosting the Spirit.
Now, Gal. 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
So, "the just" lives by faith and not what people say the human body can or cannot do. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but #TrustMe, I strive everday to be just perfect as my Father in Heaven is.
It's a state of the mind; you believe you can do it, you confess it and you work towards it. You fall along the way, you pick yourself up, dust yourself and follow the procedure.
For some trust in horses and chariots; they are brought down and fallen. But we remember the name of the Lord our God; we are risen and stand upright. Psalms 20:7-8 paraphrased. There wouldn't be a need to be risen if there was no fall in the first place, right? So again, I'm not saying there won't be fall here and there, but it is left for you to remember the Lord as your strength and not just believe but convict yourself that He lives in you 24/7.
It's a choice, it's a state of mind.

Your Christianity is the type that is centered on works. It's the weakest form of Christianity. You are not different from the old testament folks that lived under the law. The message of grace sounds too outlandish to your type. You strive everyday to impress God with your good works, then you fail and your faith weakens and the devil takes advantage of that.

Embrace grace, embrace the righteousness christ bought with His precious blood, seize from your works. Accept the love and forgiveness of sin that is in christ Jesus. It is called justification by faith. That is what the gospel is all about. GOSPEL actually means GOOD NEWS. It may sound too good to be true but it is true.

My Christianity? Really brother? Wow!
For the sake of fairness, read my last two comment you replied.
But, you my friend, are very confused and more so trying to confuse others. You first started with one can't be in the Holy Spirit 24/7, and I asked if the Holy Spirit goes on vacation in your life.
You also wrote that I should be realistic that, one is liable to sin when the flesh comes in and I responded by telling the essence of Grace and how it works. So, I brought up the Grace first and now you are telling me that there's Grace? Really?!
May God through His Spirit fill you with wisdom sir.
I drop my pen.

The answer to this questn can be complicated. How will flesh show up? In what form? Remember that there are sins that must not be mentioned among christians. Somebody shud not go and fornicate, murder, smoke, get drunk, listen to ungodly music, watch porn etc once in a while and tell be the flesh have to show up sometimes.

The guy u are attacking is right. U talk as if work shud be dead in us. But that is not what the bible teaches. Philippians 3:12- I do not claim that I have already become perfect. I keep striving to win the prize for which christ jesus has already won me to himself. Ephessians 2:8-10 made use know that grace stopped our useless wk and start God's useful wk in us. Also remember that faith without wk is dead- James 2. Grace teaches us to say no to ungodliness-Titus 2:11-12. B4 u can say no to fornication or ungodly musics, u need to make a conscious effort even as u pray. U dont just relax and say that u depend on Christ's righteousness. That's just one way people use to deceive themselves.
