For the first time in years, Anambra state Guber becomes an open contest!
Not since since the rude and forgettable regime of hated C. Mbadinuju, the indigenous people of Anambra is clamoring for the change of government.

In the wake of 2013 Anambra governorship election, there was divided opinion of who the cap fits. There was many contestants but no one and no party stood a chance of usurping the APGA/Obi led administration if not HE who was chosen by the ruling party herself, Chief Willie Obiano. Three top competitors was Dr. C. Ngige(APC), Comm. Tony Nwoye(PDP) and Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah(LP).

In the eyes of Anambrarians, only APGA or Ngige can take them to Canaland but the former lost his integrity when he sold his loyalty to unfamiliar and untraditional political party. Ubah lost woefully while Nwoye with all resources and connections of his godfather, Prince Arthur Eze did just little to match half of Obiano's vote. That was the degree of the trust which Anambrarians had placed on APGA. Before the said election, Obiano is relatively unknown that he would have got maybe only the votes of his household if not with the help of APGA and Obi.


Fast forward to four years. New election is on horizon and there's fear that APGA might lost the control of Omanbala. How did they arrive here?
Perhaps, the deterioration of relationship between Peter and Willie. In as much as obi left APGA for reasons best known to him, no one dares to write the history of Anambra without giving him pages. He still commands respect in Anambra political environment. The bad relationship grew wings that Obiano led administration declared that the said Financial account made by Obi led administration at the end of their tenure was false and unfound*. Many questions Obiano's truthfulness, why didn't he say it earlier? Why did he kept mute until Obi left for PDP? Why won't he probe him if he made false declaration? Peter obi is no God but Obiano and his media managed the situation so poorly which even reach to the height of media banter between obi and Obiano spokespersons.


Other things things that led to unfriendly relationships between the Anambrarians and Obiano includes; unfamous Banning of Keke, lack of tangible projects, instant increase in taxation, Kai-kai drinking, etc.
Maybe banning of Keke can be justified for safety reasons, how do you justify 'Gbim increase' in taxation without considering the hardship of the people. Paying taxes is essential for development but not when you can't back it up with projects to exonerate your deeds in the eyes blames. Obi did marvelous without hefty taxation.
He's been also accused of spending lavishly, he might be spending his personal money though but he's a public figure and he might not have time to explain that it is not from the public purse. Not to forget how he handled the issue of Nkpor shooting.


Not to deny the fact that he has done many commendable things like payment of workers at when due, debt free, continued from where obi stopped in education sector, etc.


It is indeed an open contest and Obiano still the the favorite but not as he was in 2013 if public outcry it to go by. He is perhaps the best among the Guber runners but his first fours years is below standard. It is not only about signing MOU but turning it to reality. Not just to take pictures to deceive the public but hearing the voice of the people which their well being had ben entrusted in his custody. As R. Williams rightly said, "Trust is always earned, never given". Mbadinuju lost his completely, Ngige earned his to some extent, Obi justifiably earned his also, Obiano is still struggling to win the heart of his sheep. He still has the chance to make it real pretty.
Maybe his advisers are not telling him the truth as it is contained in the book of "principles of table", DO NOT TALK WHILE EATING!

But it is indeed far from great for a man loved by many.

Obiano is one of the most useless politicians I have seen in my life. Did you know that Obiano is the only governor in Nigerian history to have enjoyed over 95% approval rating in a state? People love this guy to death until he killed IPOB; not once, not twice but three times. That was the beginning of his demise. He is finished!

exactly.killing of ipob is the only problem i have with him.and the Worst part is he signed the fake military investigation report that no one was killed.

Obiano is the best Governor Anambra has ever had... Obiano will win this election more than how he won his first tenure... let people keep writing nonsense
