Has anyone here sent transcripts from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba - Akoko to WES? How long did it take AAUA please? And how much did it cost? Thanks

Sending and confirmation was smooth with WES. I think I sent between 18k-25k to a friend who did it for me last year.
I can contact him if you don't wanna travel down

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this thread even though I have read from page 0 to a point. I recently passed my IELTS LRWS 8.5,7,7,7.5. I started my ECA with WES since september. LASU delayed the verification process and the status on WES currently is "in progress" I will like to know if;

1. Do i need to wait for ECA before taking any steps?
2. Using the CRS calculator my score is 416, Can this work? or what can I do to boost this point?

Looking forward to your response.

Hello Chiobich,

I will answer question one because I have experienced it myself. This excerpt from CIC confused me as well because my hubby who is the PA obtained his masters from the UK via distance learning. The excerpt applies to distance learning degree obtained from a Canadian school either from outside Canada or within Canada. If your degree was from a Canadian school, then this applies to you. But if it wasn't then you should not concern yourself with this and follow the below steps when completing your profile after you receive your ITA.

1. Verify your distance learning degree via WES.

2. When filling your profile, after you input your school name, put (by correspondence) in bracket.

3. Write a LOE (important) explaining that your master's degree was obtained via distance learning and attach your admission letter to authenticate your claim too. You must also state to CIC that you do not require a police certificate for your study period as you were not physically present in the country in the course of your study. Very important too.

We have passed the R10 stringent check stage of our application and we did the above and all is fine.

Good luck in your application

Hello everyone,

I am amazed at the extent of information one can gather here. It is better than anything an 'agent' can offer. This is the beginning of my sojourn on this platform and this Canada journey also. I have read through the page and I have a good knowledge of all that is required. Kudos to you all. I have a few questions that I would appreciate answers to please:
I am 33 and hubby is a year older. I am aiming to be the PA since I have 5 more points in age and also getting employment reference letters would be easier cos I have had only two employers as against DH's 4.
So one of my questions stems from the fact that I have an MBA via distance learning from a UK university. Although my degree certificate does not state that in any way, I am worried that it may not be accepted bearing in mind the extract I got from the CIC site on document requirements. See below:

In cases where an applicant’s background information suggests that a Canadian education credential may have been obtained via distance learning either abroad or while present in Canada, it is at the officer’s discretion to request for supporting documentation.
If it is determined that the applicant obtained more than 50 percent of their education via distance learning, the applicant should not be awarded additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points for having a Canadian education credential. If the reduction in CRS points results in the applicant having a score below the minimum CRS, the application should be refused per A11.2

&
Applicants are instructed to indicate that their education was completed by correspondence by typing in brackets {by correspondence} on the same line as the education institution name found in the Education Background Information tab of GCMS. The discretion remains with the officer to decide if a police certificate is required for the country of the education institution

2.) Furthermore, I also need to know if I can use the job i did 4 years ago as my primary NOC instead of my current job. (I am having some issues deciding with my current job-next question explains why)

3.) Do you think I can use Credit Manager 0122 NOC. My job details in the past 3 and half years has been as a Retail & Credit Risk Analyst. But under the Lead Statement for the said NOC 0122, it states that is for "managers". I am only a 4th level officer in my bank although my work entails approving credit requests for disbursements and everything related to processing credit requests. I also supervise other junior officers. Will they raise an eyebrow due to my level? I am not a middle or senior level officer. I am thinking NOC 1212 but I am not sure that cuts it.

Apologies for my long write-up. I don't want to keep disturbing you guys with questions. Please help me to make a decision.

Thank you.

@chiobich
The paragrapgh you referenced in relation to distance learning study being acceptable or otherwise is in relation to DL study from Canadian University and if points will be awarded as having studied in Canada.

Evaluate your UK MBA and bracket "by correspondence" in front of your institution name when filling your forms, it will be accepted and awarded points in same manner as a foreign credential. You have nothing to worry about.

@elfmann, you must have read the same thing he posted up there, so there is no such thing like escape cheesy cheesy
Better as it relates to correspondence studies done in Canada only.. I mean CRS deduction discretion.

You have good scores. and
1. YES, you need to wait for ECA before taking further steps
2. 416 is a bit on the low side but CIC can still surprise us with low draws. That aside, are u single or married? If married, your spouse may need to take IELTS as well and probaly also get ECA done to support your current scores.

I assumed you are with Bachelors degree and with age 32 I got 419 using the CRS calculator. Check again, because one mark is important in this journey

The 3 points difference is most likely from one of the IELTS components she selected, that's where a band gives 3 points more than the previous band.

Ok. But sincerly, there's little you can do to improve your CRS. you already maxed out the scores for speaking and listening. Even if you retake IELTS to gain maximum points for reading and writing it's just gonna be an additional 6 points. i.e from 419 to 425. And I cannot say it's economical to do so. Therefore, once your ECA arrives, enter the pool, sit on your 419 and keep hope alive that CIC will do 'christmas' for us and do lesser CRS draws hopefully before your next birthday.

Cheerssss.

Check if it was 7.5 you selected for your speaking and not 7 then 8.5 for listening and not 8

Hard truth here. Though 425 looks more a comfortable zone, if the IELTS is retaken, how well can one guaranty that one or the two components already maxed out will not drop to acceptable base? Part or all the 6 points aimed for becomes lost.

Other factors where points can be gained is somewhat a stretch - additional degree; OND, HND, MSc. If already enrolled in a Masters programme, how soon will you be completing? Sure you would not forget to claim points from sibling if you have a PR sibling.

You won't be questioned. Your gift deed should state (among other details) that you're given the money for your relocation plans. So, you actually received it in preparation for that relocation. Your gift deed kind of supersedes the affidavit(s), the gift deed without the affidavits might just be sufficient. Lets wait for others opinion.

Thank you bro. God bless you

Can getting a provincial nomination increase mt chances?
A provincial nomination is the highest booster one can get, followed by LMIA backed employment offer. At this stage and while in Nigeria, probability of getting the latter is close to zero but not impossible while the former is a more expensive and time consuming route. Provincial nomination gives additional 600 points while the LMIA backee job offer gives maximum of 200 points which should get you ITA in next draw after receiving the nomination or the job offer.

If you have the wherewithal for PNP and/or you are in a hurry to jet out of Nigeria receive ITA because of your perceived low CRS, you can explore the PNP route. It cost CAD1,500. Otherwise, wait, hope, pray and watch CRS drop to your zone. Note that the PNP does not necessarily guaranty a speedy application process but rather a speedy ITA once nominated. Check page 0 and few pages back for links to understanding PNP.

That said, CRS is expected to drop if the number of ITA issued is increased and sustained. The past few draws has seen ITA issued to about 2800 applicants from a previous 3300 plus. If the number of ITA issued can climb back to mid 3000s and sustained at that level, then it is expected to see CRS drop drastically. My opinion though.
