Professor Osinbajo said this after the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr Chris Ngige, interrupted his speech to pass him information.

“We are not making promises for nothing. The second Niger Bridge, we have been talking about it for a long time. But for the first time, President Muhammadu Buhari went by himself to negotiate the facility to do that second Niger Bridge,” the Vice President said.

“And that is why the second Niger Bridge is in our current budget and we have provided for it. In fact, I am being reminded that just two days ago, the Sovereign Wealth Fund paid $2bn for that same project. So we will definitely see our second Niger Bridge. We will not make promises we cannot keep.

This is more likely miscommunication. Nigeria's Sovereign Wealth Fund only just hit the $2bn mark:

Nigeria’s sovereign wealth fund stood at $2 billion this month with the investment agency seeking further growth through agriculture and the addition of asset management, its chief executive officer said.

The government’s contribution stands at $1.5 billion, with the rest including funds owned by the institution and those managed for several government agencies, Uche Orji of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority said in an interview on Wednesday in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana.

What the PDP promised and deceived ibo people with for 30 years is going to be delivered by APC/PMD/FASHOLA. 101% guaranteed.

I know many in that region hate Fashola and PMB for whatever silly, ignorant and warped communal and societal reasons, but Fashola and PMB's name are going to be on the commissioning plaque cemented on that bridge and in our history books, saying this bridge was commissioned by His Excellency, PMB and the Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola. This is going to be an everyday reminder for every man, woman, and child crossing that bridge that it was built by the APC/PMB/FASHOLA.

Hate is indeed a sad burden on many in that region.

$2 billion for 2nd Niger bridge? Oh my! This is fraud! 2 billion dollars? What's the length of the bridge? Despite the ancient design and stuff? They should go and compare what $2 billion will construct in other countries. That amount will surely build more than ome bridge. Even Osinbajo should know better.
