Sangresan, you're focusing on political alliances formed at certain times in the past only. I am not. Considering the geo-poplitical realities of Nigeria, political alliances are inevitable and that is not my grouse. Political alliances are short term tactics. My point is that the overall objectives (long term implications) of past or future political alliances should not aim to "block" the progress of other regions. Past political alliances by SE and SS politicians, at different times in our political history, with the Muhamedians in the North, did not seek to undermine the economic progress of the SW. However, the laws and policies that the federal government and even the military decided to implement or enforce were intentionally adopted so as to ensure systemic socio-economic discrimination, subjugation, and exclusion of the SE/SS region. I hold this view because the Yorubas dominated the federal government at a time and they sat at the table where some of today's development-hindering laws and policy positions were introduced and officially adopted by the federal government. The SE/SS region have always been denied the opportunity to contribute to how Nigeria is structured and run; they always sought to be included in the affairs of Nigeria, the reason why cries of marginalization have always come from that part of the country. Case in Point First, the blockade of food and medical supplies to the SE during the civil war was implemented by Obafemi Awolowo. If they cared about the children and women of the SE who had no say in Biafra or its declaration by Ojukwu, they would have allowed food to get to them and instead fight the Biafran military men. Why starve the children and women, when those fighting you are men? We see time and again how the U.S. engages in war with the government and military of nations but also provide food to the children and women of those countries they are fighting. But the Yorubas colluded with the Muhamedians to slaughter the vulnerable children and women of the SE. This is one instance in history of the ultimate betrayal by the Yorubas. Second, the Yorubas are responsible for not allowing any functioning seaport in the SE region (todays SS and SE). The federal government laws and policies that ensure no seaport functions in the SE/SS region were written and championed by the Yorubas. Afterall, what sense would it make for folks from the Northeast and even parts of the Northcentral regions to kick against having seaports in states or regions that are closer to them. But because the Yorubas are afraid of competition and would rather prevent other southern states from benefiting from the economic advantages of a seaport, they remind you that seaport is the responsibility of the federal government, in which they control, anytime the issue of seaport comes up. Who wrote the federal government laws that the Yorubas a re quick to point to? The Yorubas wrote it! International airports were also not allowed to exist in the SE, before Jonathan's government. Obasanjo confirmed the suspicion that the SE's economy is intentionally depressed by the federal government by openly saying, on different occasions, that Nigeria should not allow any seaport or international airport in the SE/SS region because the Igbos will use it to import arms. How could this be true if the Nigerian Customs and the Nigerian Navy would be on duty manning these ports? Third, the On-shore/Off-shore oil dichotomy policies and law was championed by the Yorubas/Awolowo. The main objective of that law/policy was to ensure that the hosts communities of where crude oil is found and extracted do not benefit from the proceeds of the crude oil. If the host communities were Yoruba communities Awolowo would not have championed such as draconian and highly disgraceful and unjust law. But they did this because it was the only way monies from the oil would be taken to develop Lagos while the host communities are left with the environmental pollution and a high rate of cancer that characterizes oil communities in SE/SS region. As one can see, these pattern of strangulating the SE and SS regions economically have consistently been championed or supported by the Yorubas, though surrepticiously. Hiding behind the cloak of federal laws and policies, of which the Muhamedian North is the face of it, the Yorubas have consistently sold out the interest or soul of Southern Nigerian (SW, SE, SS regions) for a meager benefit of the SW region. I dare to say that the reason why the Yorubas are complaining now or demanding restructuring is because they've also become victims of the federal laws and government policies, which was originally intended to keep the SE region down. sangresan: |

namet:Firstly, I noticed you are a propaganda fool who knows nothing. You are only afraid of the southern unity which may terminate Nigeria & the parasitic north. The Spanish restructuring of 1978 constitution is what gave regions autonomy in Spain till today. Your fear has been the elders in the South supporting restructuring. The latest being Chief Emeka Anyaoku few days ago speaking about restructuring before 2019 election. Before this, it was Chief Afe Babalola that signed the resolutions at Ibadan, which made me & some other people suspected Pa Ben Nwabueze was involved. Coming to your lies, firstly, the South South people are not bought or moved by your fabrications , if it is possible for an elder like Pa Edwin Clarke to speak online he would have given you more lectures. GEJ got it very late running after Yoruba Obas before election when he found out the North was against him, but it was late. He knows that was the only solution. All your complaints about blockage of food after 3 yrs of unending war is to raise sympathy of the South East. Will that bring about the actualisation of Biafra? Mind you, this meeting is not only hosted by Ambode but Co-hosted by by AkwaIbom State Governor. WHO TOLD YOU THE MEETING was convened by Ambode? The onshore / offshore dichotomy which the South West Governors (Littoral States ) led the battle against FG during Obj is what you claimed was introduced by Awolowo . You are a fool & very dull. Awolowo that was known as a Champion of Regional system will now give a regional resources to FG. Despite Ondo State being the only beneficiary of the oil derivation money, SW was very active leading the battle for the upward review to 13%. In the onshore / offshore dichotomy & 13% derivation battle SE was there but very DOCILE. You raised the issue of Yoruba preventing construction of Sea ports in SS & SE. Only an intelligent person should speak on matters requiring high intellect & not fools. If I draw your attention to Global Maritime Issues you cannot understand. GEJ was a president for 6 years he understands better. Pius Anyim was SGF for 4 yrs, he should come & explain how Yorubas prevented the establishment of sea ports in the SE & SS. So it is the Yorubas that forced Hyundai & Samsung to establish Deep Sea Vessel repair yard & also forced Intel Logistics in Partnership with NPA to establish Deep Sea port projects. No country force cargo ships to designated port except temporarily for emergency or repair purposes. Ship berths according to the capability of the water channel & the sea port to receive them, more importantly the destination of the cargoes. Tomorrow you will accuse Yorubas of preventing the establishment of International Airport in the SE & SS. It is now I know why the Northern Elders Forum leader (Tanko Yakasai) has been accusing the Yorubas of being behind Biafra agitations & Resource Control. It is to permanently create disunity in the South. North has been accusing the Yorubas of being behind Biafra & Resource countrol agitations of East & SS. Mind you, the old northern political elites & their counterpart in the SW have been on the battle for regional autonomy since the military era. http://nigeriannewsworld.com/2016/07/20/yorubas-are-behind-the-agitation-for-biafra-tanko-yakassai/ https://www.naij.com/993879-yakassai-attacks-unpatriotic-yorubas-for-working-against-the-north-southwest-fire-back-updated.html http://leaders.ng/restructuring-nigeria-is-useless-yakassai/ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/10/restructuring-nigeria-yoruba-agenda-impracticable-says-yakassai/ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/08/restructuring-britains-conspiracy-north-south-ayo-adebanjo/ https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/restructuring-southwest-troubled-nigeria-since-1953-yakasai/ |

It may also interest you to know that though Awo and others were part of the Nigerian War cabinet, many Yorubas also suffered for their support or association with Igbos during the war.Our people told me of numerous town-level contributions in Yorubaland especially in hitherto NCNC dominated areas to alleviate the suffering of the Igbos.Aside that,Wole Soyinka is a prominent Yoruba who was clamped into prison for supporting Biafra. The records are there.... Again,I don't think the Yoruba have ever opposed development of seaports in the SS/SE...Right from Independence, the Zik-led NCNC were having the majority at the Federal level....How could he have allowed the marginalization of Igbos or the SS?Most of the outstanding federal policy makers of the era were Igbos as well. After 1966,Ironsi abolished regionalism.Gowon took over from there.Awo was part of the regime and so were many others. In 1979,the SS voted for Hausa-led NPN.While Awo's UPN preferred to be in the opposition,Zik entered into an alliance with NPN to produce the leaders of the National Assembly from his party.Dr Ekwueme was the vice president. After that,we had a succession of military coups...Yoruba were never in control. So,how could they have been behind the subjugation of seaports in the SS/SE...Even if your theory is correct, why wasn't it reversed by the SS/SE govt of Goodluck Jonathan?...Please,don't just come here to push unfounded postulations...Research and ask questions about issues before coming onto the cyberspace to argue about them.Thanks. |

They can't hide their hausa fulani ass licking and slavering spirit,no wonder their new game plan is to make hausa fulani man Atiku the president in 2019.like nnamdi azikwe did for tafawa balewa against awolowo, alex ekwueme and ojukwu did for shagari against awolowo again, chuba okafigbo and co did for Tofa against abiola,Arthur nzeribe did for Abacha against Abiola again |
