Maybe it is because a lot of people realise that there is no God.
Maybe people realise that after many centuries of lies, the emperor really has no clothes.
Maybe it is because people are fed up of the unwarranted intrusions in their lives by so-called men of God.
Maybe they are fed up of the greed of church leaders.
Maybe they are fed up of unfulfilled promises.

The reason many Christians are not going to church is because the lack faith not necessary because of money or job. There had being lack of job in 70's 80's yet many didn't want to attend. Even if most churches decide to help their members which is necessary, many will still find excuse not to attend. Haven't you wonder why most developed countries stop attending churches inspite of their economy?

Yes it's your assumption which I don't doubt but the reality is that many have chosen not to attend church from immemorial even if you preach or help them till now or tomorrow
