eddycross:in addition, he and KA contacting the VO with the same email and contents is highly suspicious, moreso their letters were also identical even when they claim to work in different branch. He didnt do enough to prove beyond all reasonable doubt that there wasnt some game going on. I think people should thread with caution and endeavor to put their HR(or whoever is the contact point) in the know if they decide to get a letter from a supervisor to fulfill CIC's reference letter format. if possible sef, take the letter to your HR to confirm that your designation and roles on your reference letter doesnt conflict with what they think is appropriate. Just to save oneself from the long story of having to explain to a V.O what is obtainable in your peculiar work environment. |

4Barr:This says a whole lot. Meaning they do not need to inform you of what exactly is incriminating, so you dont cover up evidence, rather they just give you a chance to either clarify issues or further incriminate yourself. |

Abby2017:I think they reserve the right to demand for evidence of it being readily accessible to you in canada. even if they decide that implies being in a canadian bank, in cash or whatever convinces them. Let us remember that this people are doing this out of suspicion and there must have been a trend that encouraged this. So it is best we prepare for such eventuality, as the results of such incidences would go a long way in determining if they would substantiate/invalidate their suspicion of one sincerely having access to the POF; and consequently if such "over sabi" would die off or become standard practice. |

elfmann:Bro, the Dollar card does not work like the Naira card which guarantees automatic access to your Naira account. If you have a USD dorm account, holding a Dollar card for that account is optional but if you request for a card, a sub account will be opened for the card. In effect, the card does not give you access to your dorm account. For example, if you have say $10k in your dorm account, you can't spend that money using your card unless you first transfer the money to the card account. To bring it home, you have a dorm account with a credit of $60k (twale alaye Santino1 ) and you want to pay for your family's app fee + RPRF which cost $2,080. Just by virtue of you holding a dollar card will not make the transaction successful if you fill in the card details, but you have to first move $2,080 or more from your dorm account to the Dollar account before the transaction can go through. So, you can have $57k in your dorm account and just $3k in your card account. Due to card frauds and bois not smiling, your money is much more safer in the dorm account than in the card account. Hence, it's usually advised you keep the barest minimum or just what you need at the moment in your card as your money might mysteriously grow wings one beautiful night [s]while you're samankweing. Imagine receiving a $60k debit alert in the act [/s] . |

elfmann:This is not the standard across all banks in Nigeria. I know GTB operates this way, they separate their Dom account from the Dollar debit card account. I.e. you must transfer from your USD A/c to the card account to transact with the Card. Some banks link the Dollar Debit card directly to your main Bank USD A/c, so your transact directly on the main account. If your card is a USD credit card, its always separate from your main account |

Patterns18:Great. I was talking from GT's point but figured it might not be across board with elfmann's query... Thanks for clarifying. |

I think GTBank Dom Acct is better. Moving money to card acct makes GTBank Dom better than other banks. |

Newmum0615:My past employer gave me a reference with my level then went on to detail my job roles, duties and responsibilities during my period of employment. For my present employer, i knew they don't give references to serving staff so i got the standard letter or introduction from HR and that stated only my level and remuneration. I went further to declare my job roles and responsibilities, I also printed out my job role together with my KPIs from our HR portal and included documents to prove my work status. I included this in my LOE that my current employer does not give references to serving staff which is why i had submitted other documents. |
