Hello Auto gurus;

Please, I started my car (automatic transmission) this morning, engaged the gear which responded successfully but the car remained immobile (feelings like an obstacle in front of the tires) despite revving up engine.

Gear oil has got no problem.

What could be responsible?

If not the usual transmission issue on this ride. Look out for a binding brake

you currently have a clogged transmission strainer.

Clean/replace and car will work fine.

BUT

You have bits of metal filings blocking strainer presently.

Gear will continue to fail at intervals.

Each time you clean strainer it will work.

Replace gear.

Find out what is killing present one (possibly engine ecu fault)

you currently have a clogged transmission strainer.

Clean/replace and car will work fine.

BUT

You have bits of metal filings blocking strainer presently.

Gear will continue to fail at intervals.

Each time you clean strainer it will work.

Replace gear.

Find out what is killing present one (possibly engine ecu fault)

Hmm.....clogged transmission strainer. I just got the entire gearbox exactly a year ago.

Or could it be because I drove through a thick flood earlier this week.

May I at this time inform all doubtful Nairalanders that these two guys: GAZZUZZ and Mayor2013 are true experts.

I informed the Mechanic that installed the gear for me when I bought it last year.He Carried out a visual inspection and just confirmed what GAZZUZZ and Mayor2013 advised that i checked. Note that I didn't inform him of anything before the Inspection.

He changed the gear filter, gear oil and made some readjustment and cleaning on the brake caliper.

My car is working fine now; even smoother than before.
