We should always have some sympathy for other people's misfortunes, many of them maybe as a result of legitimate prescription drug use which became opioid dependency.

I absolutely disagree with you. I am a doyenne here and I can positively tell you I have seen drugs ravaged black communities some 30 years ago and no Health emergency was declared . You were right about Clinton crime acts throwing more people in jail but the same Clinton was roundly criticized by Civil Rights leader then for succumbing to the likes of Speaker Gingrich because he was trying to win reelection. What I am telling you is that the drug problems in America predates Clinton and when Tricky Dick and Reagan later was flooding inner cities with Cocaine killing Blacks and Hispanics, no one declared an health emergency. All of a sudden, White Americans are becoming junkies in their Surbuban homes and all of a sudden, a National Health Emergency was declared. I was here when people hooked on Crack Cocaine were given lengthy jail time because they are mostly poor minorities while our Lasalle St Boys doing Powder Cocaine were being given lenient sentences and being sent to drug rehabilitations.
