Actually, it does. We have such stories across America.
My cousin's girlfriend was already working as a BSN when he landed in America. He settled down big time within 6 months and is doing huge things in Nigeria today.

Your ignorance is deafening.
So go ahead and show me a single RN with $200,000 in 401k or $50,000 in cash. I deal with facts bro, not assumption. Even Doctors dont have $200,000 saved when they still have that huge $300,000 medical school loans to tackle.

You are spot on... Most Americans don't even have $80k in cash... Its debt to debt, and loan financing and all stuff

Nigerian in america are known for gaming the system, trying to be smarter than the system but the system eventually outsmart them because they are monitored financially through credit report

Nigerians in america are not all rich, they fall between all classes of higher middle class and low income, pls do not try to paint the story as it all Nigerians in america that are successful, there many poor Nigerians in america and few middle class just like in Nigeria,i have been there and i have seen the homelessness and suffering of many Nigerians,go to the Nigerian consulate in new york, everyday we receive letters of financial help from many Nigerians in the states.they would have been better off in Nigeria.
Yes, America is huge and we know there are 50 states but when a Nigerian in American is sending letter to the Nigerian Consulate in New York (With all their own financial problems grin grin ) then you know that the person has even bigger issues and I'm inclined to believe that those asking you for help in America are not people with work authorization in the US.
Why beg in a country where 24 out of 25 employables are employed?? A country with huge programs for assistance of low-income earners including food stamps, section 8 housing schemes, etc?? You simply have no clue dude.
Like it or not, you may focus on what tickles your fancy but again Nigerians in America are well-known for taking advantage of the opportunities in America LEGALLY. Go to the schools/colleges, go to the tech boot camps, request for list of licensed professionals (Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, IT, Nursing, Law, Architecture, Academics) across the United States, spot the numerous Nigerian names and come back here to tell me that they are doing illegal stuff.

Bro I think you’re getting it wrong .let me break it down for you . Let’s talk about North Carolina for example , the least you can get here by working at Walmart stores or Best Buy stores is $9 per hour for starters and you can work for at least 40hours per week. That is approximately $1440 per month. Let’s say after tax you get $1300 which to me is the least you can get for menial job . Rent and utilities may be $400 per month if you try to get it close to a student area, feeding let’s say $200 if you always cook at home and other payments may be car insurance if you have a car and miscellaneous which may be $30, $70 respectively .
That means you still have approx. $600 left for yourself per month after the normal bills which is equivalent to 213,000 naira.
I repeat bro, that is the least you can get here if you have your papers and not some illegal immigrant working under the table . And as a graduate here you can get $80,000 - $150,000 annually. So do the maths.
I’m not saying America is paradise , but you shouldn’t compare it to Nigeria. I know Nigeria is gonna be better soon, Insha Allah.
I don’t always comment on nairaland but I just need to reorientate you based on what you posted up there .
Thanks
Bro i have been avoiding what most people including you have been saying. Show me where i compare Nigeria to America in terms of standard of living? It was when the debate got heated that i had to put some people in their position. If you live in America you will understand what i am saying here. Every single Nigerian doing odd jobs to survive, soon as they get their first paycheck they start shouting they are richer than bankers in Nigeria...please check your salary estimate, no way you make 1400usd and get 1300usd after tax

Seriously, the OP arguement is flawed. Why do you expect someone without training to earn high? You really sound like a disgruntled person. Can you compare the percentage of graduates employed in Nigeria to that of USA? You just decided to make baseless arguements
majority of graduates in america are jobless or working in a field that is different from their discipline. Dont let me even go there, you will be surprised at the jobless rate of americans. Far from the 4% you hear. Welcome to reality bro

It also depends on what you're into in the US. From investment banking to ebay, to amazon, to google, to drop shipping, to auctions, to real estate short term buying and selling, to street hustling, opportunities are much. Are you sure you're not limited by things you don't know?

Yeah I’m living in America but I’m a master’s student here . So I know what I’m talking about. It doesn’t matter if the tax range is lower I’m working on estimate and the error Value can be just +-$50.. WHat I’m saying here is that if you’re here legally and you have the authorization to work . Then, that’s the least you can earn, I know what I’m saying and you can never compare someone here with even a normal bank worker in Nigeria. what you said about Nigerians here shouting about being rich than bankers in Nigeria is a thing of the brain , it’s individual view of seeing life and it’s always attached to ego. But in the real sense they are actually richer than the bank workers in Nigeria because that’s the fact. Remember the value I quoted for you is the least you can earn here if you have the authorization to work

The truth is, you can't compare life in United States to life in Nigeria, its never comparable my brothers and sisters.

America is a blessed nation, courtesy of good and visionary leaders who have the country at heart unlike Nigeria where leaders are crooks out to loot the nation dry for their personal gain, and that is why every Nigerian youth must join hands and let's build Nigeria to our dream nation.

How can we achieve this

Youths need to take over leadership in Nigeria and chart a new course for Nigeria.

Currently we have began the journey to changing the status quo, check out the huge number of Nigerian youths ready and those that have volunteered to lead the Youth Political Revolution in Nigeria here>>>https://www.nairaland.com/4131364/nigerian-youth-revolution-party-nyrp

When things don't add up, you should first question your own understanding of the issue grin grin
Ok, let me break it down:
1. My cousin's girlfriend moved to the US and got a degree in Nursing (BSN) and then got a job.
2. My cousin was based in Nigeria and joined her in the US about 4 years later.
3. His girlfriend's assistance helped him settle down pretty fast and was fully on his feet within 6 months.

Sometimes the issue is not with what people say but with 'our own interpretation of what they said'.

No I see desperate people trying to protect an illusion they have created for others that is far from reality. I don't see any balanced view here, all I hear from Nigerians over there is that Nigeria is bad and America is good because they have stable power and water supply and good roads. This argument is no longer holding water anymore since Nigeria is catching up already.
hahaha. Nigeria is catching up indeed. cry

You are 100% right. Most of them only deceive their relatives here during festive periods when they come around. This is after they have worked and saved all year round doing menial jobs. Only a few are truly successful but their number can't be compared to the majority who are living from hand to mouth with no reasonable savings
i don’t know why you think most Nigerians in the state do meniac job. You need to download your research very well. Over 30% of Nigerian living in USA have bachelor degree in USA. Over 10% make more than $200,000. I can support my claim with a well researched fact.

True. Cost of living, taxes etc.... Paying for gas, cable, insurance, food (this one can take up to $200 a month), rent (depending on wer u live, $400-$700 a month)... Phone bills, and not to talk of miscellaneous...

After spending a month in the mid-west (which is far cheaper than NY, Cali and co) my eye open o.
Lol.

After all the expenses, who will want to pay tithe? Most people don't. Cos the money isnt even enough. Just a few dole out that 10% .

I don't know how much you earn per month, but just compare yourself to 'lucky' graduates in Nigeria who earn ₦100k per month. Can you survive on such a salary if you live and work in Ikoyi? Yet Ikoyi can't compare to most American cities in terms of infrastructure and social amenities.

Even ICT guys in Nigeria can rake in $10,000 Monthly and $120k Per year if the work is done right, doesn't require being in USA, it's having the knowledge and knowing what do to, the opportunities online are not well harvested by Nigerians. I'm ashamed seeing Indians everywhere and Nigerians are busy submitting CV, walking upandan when there are chances to rake in cash
