I did not run away bros - you sound bitter about someone you don't even know? grin
I actually visited US once and returned to Nigeria before finally relocating 16 months later. I made a conscious decision that I am forever grateful for. Contrary to your opinion, while I accept my identity as a Nigerian for the purpose it serves in our current civilization I don't believe anyone was created for a specific country. Borders are man-made creations so when my investments in Nigeria is very stable Ghana is next. I can choose anywhere on planet earth as my home if allowed. I belong to everywhere I belong to nowhere grin grin grin

The funniest and most expensive joke I have heard from Nigerians doing menial jobs in the US. and earning between $1,500- $2,000, is claiming that they are richer than bank managers in Nigeria. I guess they make their money in America while spending it in Nigeria. This stupid joke need to stop. A Nigerian doing menial job in the US. at best can be compare to someone receiving 80,000 Monthly in Nigeria in purchasing power. A Nigerian doing odd jobs for 10 yrs will still be paying rent while a 10 yrs bank manager would have long built two to three houses with a lucrative investment. Nigerians in America need to stop converting currencies because it is clearly stated that if you earn $12,000 annually in America you are living in poverty

Hmmmm well no matter how hard u try to rubbish God's own state, i still remain grateful to God for bringing me to this country. i just turned one year in this country, i have my own car, i send money to my mother in naija every month, i pay my house rent and other bills and still have savings. black americans dont have savings cos of their lifestyles not africans living in america. so stop deceiving people.

This is deep ☹️
Jencejyde:
Hmmm. First and foremost I'm proud to be Nigerian but not happy with the way Nigeria is. The argument has two sides but let me share this. I once met a lady on a flight from us to Dubai and we had a long interesting conversation. Guess what ? She is Egyptian by birth but now American after living there for close to 30 years and she said something that forever will strike me. She said she will always be an Egyptian by heart and soul but her allegiance will forever be American simply because there is RULE OF LAW.

Having looked at the arguments here one thing I can say is that until there is the rule of law operating as it should. There is no way a Nigerian is living a better life than the American. No matter whether he his hustling or doing menial jobs. I won't start a whole new debate on this but truly this is deep and life constitutes equality and justice most importantly amongst other things which we sadly do not have here and honestly will take a miracle to happen soonest. I'll just leave it here like this.

so you prefer suffering in the US to living well in your own country ?
Compare the cost of living in both countries and see whether it's worth it living a raising a family in the US.
You will come back home and realise, all your classmates are living better than you.
what the fuc.k are u saying? How many Nigerians are living well in Nigeria? On the contrary, when you travel out to Europe, Australia or north American countries, you actually come back and see that you are far better than those you left behind for the many years you have left for.

They have to do further studies to fit in. Nigerian certificate is useless. Passing exam is just a prerequisite but you still need to further your studies.

Bro we know you as an heavyweight when it comes to travelling section but most times you like hiding the truth. How many americans have$10,000 saved up? I am even talking about those with middle class jobs. Saving 10k is a milestone for majority of the country

Someone has already answered this, most Americans don't save. Vacation upon vacation, parties and shit. As a Naija guy, we don't take vacation, party to a minimum. So that they don't save $10k per year, doesn't mean we don't.

back from ghost modegrin

Bro one thing you don't understand about America is that they don't have African man mentality where you save millions in the bank (bank doing business with your money and making cool cash). Americans enjoy life as if rapture will happen tomorrow, they already have everything running smoothly for them. So why saving? Forget about the issue of money in the bank for Americans cos they don't give a f** about that.

over & outgrin

They don't know what is saving because of the credit card they are use to. They want to drive with the best of cars . Shopping for expensive clothes . Enjoyment

exactly cost of living in naija is cheap because quality of life is poor.

once you want to live a life as good as the average american, you would pay through your nose.

Imagine living in a 2 bedroom in lekki with 24 hrs power and kids in meadow hall. Thats a rent of 1.5 million, service charge + power of 1.5 million and school fees per child of 3 million. Thats 6 million naira for only rent and school fees so you need to earn like 10 million at least - which is bank manager salary.

Now similar quality of life in the US would only require a USD 40k salary which is above menial jobs but what the average engineer will earn.

May you walk and never stumble!

€20K is quite small to start a family there, even the 20k euros brut will not enter your pocket, 30 percent of that chunk will go to allocation chomage, cotisation etc. At the end of the year you will still pay annual tax, when you are renting house you pay yearly tax too, you pay for annual housing insurance too.

To make it worse, the higher you earn the more taxes, even people earning 40k euros a month end up in mysery as majority of their income is squandered by taxes. Driving itself is another taxing.

The good thing about them is that they support family union, you are guaranteed certain things when you hqve family compared to being alone.

Thank you for the mention bro

The Op of this thread has no idea how much you can make doing menial jobs here.
I do menial jobs currently(check my thread about adjusting status). I posted my last 2 weeks paycheck on my thread plus how much i make at my other job. In a week, i make at least 800USD. Multiply 800USD by 4, that is at least 3200USD in a month. Now convert that to Naira. grin grin grin. i don't need to lie to anyone. I work crazy Hours. Infact, i use to make more than that but since the end of the summer, things has slowed down in the restaurant where i work my main job. Thankfully, i work for a man now who pay 80$ cash per day and we work all day of the month, ALL DAY!!!...Do your calculation and see how much i make

Like i always say, NA WHO COME YANKEE KNOW WETIN DEY

How much do you spend, if your gf is not feeding and housing you, how much will you be spending? Abi na for naija you go spend am, your housing shouldn't be less than $600 ideally except na basement you dey stay.

Many ignorant people talking nonsense, they haven't even travel abroad before, life as a menial worker in the west/america is hard as hell compare to life as a menial worker in Nigeria,at least in Nigeria people have empathy to give you things if you are broke also i prefer to be a BAnk manger in naija than a menial worker in the west/america,but if i have opportunity to be a bank manger of a mid size or large bank in the west/america then i am a rare breed because,i will have access and exposure to many opportunities than the average citizen and be better off than a bank Ceo in Nigeria but to be frank this is very hard to do. Also dont get me wrong,A bank manger in nigeria has access to many opportunities in Africa especailly in the banking sector/economy.

Menial jobs in the west/europe is just pure savage, taxi drivers, waiters, dish washers, people that give advert on street, window cleaner and many others, (you know your selfsmiley) collects below minimum wage and most times depend on tips, life is hard, winter, summer, you are working, saving is hard to do because you spend as you receive, tax first, heater, gas, internet, electricity bills etc,you live life on the edge,no peace of mind, god forbid you are a illegal then that is red card.the day you lose your job is the beginning of homelessness, friends might even deny you existence when it comes to help.

let me not start with those that think they can do taxi jobs, you need a special licence, taxi jobs are competitive except you want to carry only Nigerians which is also competitive even uber in europe/america,you have to have a car that suits there requirement, life of a taxi driver in europe/america is just pure nonsense,i also prefer to be a uber driver in nigeria than in ameria/west.

for those working savage jobs ,taxi drivers and the rest converting to naija currency anytime they pay you,i guess it is inferiority complex/failure and because you have settled for less,so the best way to console your self is to convert and think you are better off than nigerians living in nigeria.

Naija can be tough,no rule of law, constant electricity or water but life in naija is easy,in europe, you might have free medical care everything free but you pay for them with your tax, once you stop paying tax,all those amenities are closed to you.in american it even worst, nothing is free in america,

And for those that think relocating or giving birth to their in america will provide your children a better life in the future, you will be disappointed to be welcome to the student loans /mortgage association after been in mortgage/studnt loan debt which you also have to be qualified to get one,you will then ask yourself in the future, does it worth it, then wake up to the reality that all your life has been in debt which will passed from generation to generation.

frankly speaking,i prefer giving birth to my children in europe,at least i will have access to free stuff like education and medical care even if poorsmiley

for quality of life which you have to pay for such as electricity, internet etc and as a professional,europe/america might be better but for real cash and future big and fat bank account without debt Nigeria is better.

I still prefer to be a menial worker,a bank manger in Nigeria than in Europe/America

Gbam, life in America is based on credit, most people pay loan till they die

On point. They pay tax and enjoy what the money is being used for. Do you really understand what it means to have light alone? Nigerians need one tin first while other things follow. LIGHT. With that alone many problem solved.you earn N1m as a banker do you know how much goes on fuelling gen.suffering and smiling.hmmmmm how many people get the bank job tell me na,now that most organizations are closing down in Nigeria.it is only in Nigeria they will be asking a 23 years old graduate for 5 years experience.iranu.

If i get 1 million naira every month i can give myself 24/7 light daily it will still be cheaper dan what an average American pay for electricity bill at d end of d year
