Liar
actually it's true
A labourer on a construction site is paid 50 cedis per day
A carpenter earns 70 cedis per day and in a day he can do two to three jobs and make it big by 6pm.
A taxi driver daily sales can be more than 150 cedis on any good day.
An entery level worker in the private sector earn between a 1000 cedis and 2000 cedis a month.

Let us ask ourself, in how many countries in the developed world can you make easy, plenty money and still save a lot like Nigeria? What we are enjoying today is because the system is not working. Let us put things right and see if many of us would cope. Let the be steady power supply, quality education and see if we won’t be forced to pay to enjoy those things. Also let there be checks and balances is every sector and you be amazed at what will happen in this country.

Nor mind dem, only people with sense will understand ur post

This just d simple truth, dey want stable electricity and hope dey will be paying 3k monthly for light bill

Some people are trying to make America look bad but I just want to make something clear, Just as Nigeria has high and low brow areas so does America. You can't compare the standard of living in Chicago or NYC to that of somewhere in Wisconsin. If you want to save money, you gats leave all those Las Vegas razz and find somewhere you can actually do. And I know some people who stay in America, UAE and even China and what they can do. So stop trying to make Nigeria look better than America it can never be.

Many ignorant people talking nonsense, they haven't even travel abroad before, life as a menial worker in the west/america is hard as hell compare to life as a menial worker in Nigeria,at least in Nigeria people have empathy to give you things if you are broke also i prefer to be a BAnk manger in naija than a menial worker in the west/america,but if i have opportunity to be a bank manger of a mid size or large bank in the west/america then i am a rare breed because,i will have access and exposure to many opportunities than the average citizen and be better off than a bank Ceo in Nigeria but to be frank this is very hard to do. Also dont get me wrong,A bank manger in nigeria has access to many opportunities in Africa especailly in the banking sector/economy.

Menial jobs in the west/europe is just pure savage, taxi drivers, waiters, dish washers, people that give advert on street, window cleaner and many others, (you know your selfsmiley) collects below minimum wage and most times depend on tips, life is hard, winter, summer, you are working, saving is hard to do because you spend as you receive, tax first, heater, gas, internet, electricity bills etc,you live life on the edge,no peace of mind, god forbid you are a illegal then that is red card.the day you lose your job is the beginning of homelessness, friends might even deny you existence when it comes to help.

let me not start with those that think they can do taxi jobs, you need a special licence, taxi jobs are competitive except you want to carry only Nigerians which is also competitive even uber in europe/america,you have to have a car that suits there requirement, life of a taxi driver in europe/america is just pure nonsense,i also prefer to be a uber driver in nigeria than in ameria/west.

for those working savage jobs ,taxi drivers and the rest converting to naija currency anytime they pay you,i guess it is inferiority complex/failure and because you have settled for less,so the best way to console your self is to convert and think you are better off than nigerians living in nigeria.

Naija can be tough,no rule of law, constant electricity or water but life in naija is easy,in europe, you might have free medical care everything free but you pay for them with your tax, once you stop paying tax,all those amenities are closed to you.in american it even worst, nothing is free in america,

And for those that think relocating or giving birth to their in america will provide your children a better life in the future, you will be disappointed to be welcome to the student loans /mortgage association after been in mortgage/studnt loan debt which you also have to be qualified to get one,you will then ask yourself in the future, does it worth it, then wake up to the reality that all your life has been in debt which will passed from generation to generation.

frankly speaking,i prefer giving birth to my children in europe,at least i will have access to free stuff like education and medical care even if poorsmiley

for quality of life which you have to pay for such as electricity, internet etc and as a professional,europe/america might be better but for real cash and future big and fat bank account without debt Nigeria is better.

I still prefer to be a menial worker,a bank manger in Nigeria than in Europe/America

So true

stop telling us lies, you are not maintaining the system,do you think you pay as much tax as the rich in america.america rich and coperate america are the one maintaining the system,so that they can make you a consumer, america deal on consumerism.

the iphone, the laptop, the shirt and the headphone(beat by dr dre) and the american cars are all made in china, that is why trump is compalining
american product cant compete with chinese product that is why they move manufacturing to china and india.america have the brand but the factories are located outide america.

credit facilities isnt there as a back up,it is part of the system for survival in america

let me not talk about oil, extraction of oil needs partnership globally, just the way it happens in the oil industry in nigeria, italso happens like that in america,i hope you remember BP case in maerica

Op you talk true. On Friday I was with a friend who went to summer in US with her daughter. She went to 4 locations while there New York, Atlanta and two more other cities. Her own account was that plenty Nigerians she met there were wretched. She said she sustained some of her close relations, that as she dey spend dollars na so they were shaking. They have no life, working for days without rest. She said America na just mouth people dey make, that naija better pass there well. Paying over 3kdollars for house rent. She told me anybody earning 60k for naija here better pass most of those guys.

My Sister went to deliver there some years ago, she made the same statement that there is nothing special about America. My aunt a Vet Doctor/Nurse she staid in her house na so she was borrowing money from her. If they see stack of $100 bills note na so there body go dey shake.

The truth is that there is money here in naija, but people because of myopic mindset, cannot see. Even ordinary women selling stuffs like pepper in market has a lot of cash reserve yes I can tell you that. Many people feel that life outside is better, but travel abroad and see 100s of people wallowing in misery who left the good thing they were doing here all in pusruit of a better life.

Nigerians should stop crying about this and that and look much closer and see that there is serious bread in this country.

Sure. You need to build up a good credit for you to survive but it is still a good thing for them compared to ours here. The thing is, if you have a good credit score then it means you have a paying job. Unfortunately however, the system too tries to entice you into taking more facilities based on your rating and if you're not careful, you fall victim by living beyond your earnings.

Samething happen here where you find workers (especially government workers) taking loans from their various cooperative societies more than they earn and at the end of the month, what they take home cannot take care of their families ...corruption sets in. Ask me what they did with the loan they colected undecided

thebosstrevor:

that is what i thought too until i notice you need to have a good credit score for you to qualify for loans,i do watch one show on gotv on sonymax,it is called repo.if you collect something on loan in america and you delay or default payment for a month, the loan company will send a repo company to prepossess the stuff you collected, come and see americcans trying to claim another person and running away

Don't mind those guys most of them are myopic, they can't see far. And most of the time, this myopic life is because of the kind of people they hang around. People that can see far.

When I began hanging with some circles, my eyes opened and I was like what, and level has so much improved, presently working on a very legit project that will be raking in plenty millions, with prospect of diversification and going into International Markets Starting from South Africa, Dubai, Singapore, Asia Pacific.

The world we live in now is presently a global village, the entire global markets is there for the taking, but the question is what do they see? And I will do that right from here in Naija. The question again is what can you see?

I live in Nigeria doc.

My observation was during one of my vacations abroad.

They are two different countries, with different standards of living. Nig and the US. Both have their pros and cons.

OP is saying earning $2000/month in the US is nothing. Which is true. That's the point he's trying to make. Cos people are quick to convert to naira and brag that they are making it big.

Pros of living in the US- The amenities. Social Security. Credit Facility etc.

Pros of living in Naija - Affordable Housing and food stuff. No matter how much u earn, with the right budgeting, and 'hold bodi ' ,you can survive. Anybody can become a millionaire tomorrow with hard work and smart work... Etc

The Cons? We all know the cons of living in Nigeria and outside Nigeria.

It's not a matter of debating, it's just mere fact.

The grass is greener where you water it.

You're right to a large extent, but I honestly don't agree that $2k per month salary in the US is nothing. A single person that earns that amount is probably doing a menial job, but can still save up to $500 per month. With working extra hours, it can be more. Even as a doctor working a Nigeria, how much was I able to save per month? Not so much.
Re: Lies Of Nigerians Living In America by LovelyAustin: 7:50pm On Oct 29, 2017
The person who created this tread surely has not traveled before, I'm living in a 3 bedroom flat in delta state, not even in a major town oo, I'm paying rent of 500k per anum, I had to spend 1.2 million naira to get an inverter in my house and I'm still paying light bill oo, that is constant at 30k monthly, mind you the inverter won't last forever oo, food nko, that one I can't tell you how much goes into food weekly not monthly o, then my two kids are there too. Ordinary turkey that I travelled to I swear I did not want to return cos when you step foot out of naija that life you think you're enjoying in naija, you'll then understand that you've been suffering. Naija is hell, everyone cannot be a bank manager in Nigeria that's a fact, stop trying to defend naija, if life in us is that hard people won't give up their jobs in nigeria to travel there, much less those that don't even have jobs. God knows I prefer a self con in us than a 3 bedroom flat here in nigeria. Shi..ke..na!

Re: Lies Of Nigerians Living In America by bigtt76(f): 7:53pm On Oct 29, 2017
Very true but that is because the Nigerian system is dysfunctional. In civilized climes, you pay your bills else you cannot survive. In Nigeria, people find a way to avoid paying bills and that is why we are where we are today.

Abroad, you can't just bump into someone's house and join them in their meal, unlike in Nigeria where you can go to your friend's home and start cooking your own meal. There you work to feed and live.

Only sensible Nigerians survive abroad and that is because they always remember where they came from and what their end-game is all about. Some go there and loathe doing jobs that pay. They keep looking for jobs that they believe they're worth not knowing that such jobs are mostly the preserve of the locals.

Then you have those who in their first year, want to start living like Jay Z, Beyonce or the Kardashians grin those are the ones that end up begging for food stamps undecided

Ok bro lets do the maths. You don't expect someone earning $75,000 to be squatting with a roommate. Such person is due for a two bedroom house or at least a one bedroom if he/she is not married. A standard one bedroom goes for $1,700 monthly in most areas in Chicago. That is over 20,000 on rent annually. Then you new model car note payments along with monthly insurance will cost you $700 which totals $8,400 annually. You are expected to pay over $200 monthly on premium health insurance which totals $2400 annually. Meanwhile before you start rejoicing, earning $75,000 means over $13,000 will be taken as federal tax, $4500 as social security, over $1,000 as medicare and another $3,000 as state tax meaning you are actually left with just $51,000 to spend for the year. I have not even gone into other major expenses, by the time I am through you will find out earning $75,000 or even $100,000 annually in America is nothing. You guys should learn from my posts and stip debating me. You are all rookies or people who really know what is happening but choose to lie or deceive themselves.
Op you are on point, many of dem still dey think say na yankee of those days 15-20 years ago

So sad.....
we can actually compare a bank manager in nigeria and that of usa

please what can a bank manager in usa do with money that the one in nigeria cant
they both can afford a duplex in a good location drive new cars can go on vacations take their kids to good schools even the ones in nigeria have brand new company car and drivers what else is there to life abeg...

The only difference is the system in usa works
but the truth is you get to a certain level in nigeria you build your own world.....24hr light constant water etc

What is the point of argument here. I think is to have a good standard of living.weather u live in America or Africa is not about how much u have in ur bank account. Am a senior civil servant earning below 50k per month which can not even pay my children school fees per term. My wife is as well a civil servant own over six month salary. How do u survive in this situation. I have an old man who has not been paid his pension for over four years b4 he move than to this America to have a decent life. How many of u talking on this trend can afford a good life eg 24hrs of electricity, health care facilities, transport ,road and houses. This not abt how much u have in the bank.

Na every single soul for America government dey provide electricity for?
