Yes, blacks are wicked. And it gives me great relief that you're black. No one prays to fall into hard times but we are sometimes the architects of our problems. For every state, there is a master plan. Yet, people throw caution to the wind and build anyhow. Am not rejoicing over their misfortune, but they also share in the blame. nnokwa042: |

First off, I have a pretty strong feeling these ones were paid to protest. Trust me, na only person wey chop belleful dey get energy make noise. On the other hand, even if these aren't paid protesters, why are Nigerians such backward people, so resistant to positive change? Ban okada - protest; as if okada is used as a means of transportation in advanced countries. Ban roadside hawking - protest; even though they know that it poses a risk to their lives and health and occasionally people masquerade as hawkers to rob other people and perpetrate evil. Destroy illegal structures - protest; forgetting that these structures are in the way of the states master plan and in quite a few cases constitute environmental and physical hazards. Look, if you want to remain backwards, go back to your village and remain backwards there. Don't come to a city and try to live unregulated village life. Funny thing is even if you move to your village, development will still come knocking at your doorstep so better just get with the program. |

tiredoflife:Do you know how much waste those guys at the waterfront generate on a daily basis and dump into the lagoon, which eventually constitute environmental hazards and health challenges? Would you ask your child to live in a lagoon front shanty? Why then are championing for someone to live in ramshackle dwellings that constitute hazards, are unregulated and are at a high risk of total destruction with resultant loss of lives if a marine natural disaster occurs? If you want to champion something, champion a better way of doing things instead of asking that things continue to be done in the terrible way they've always been done. |

UfuomaUN:He listed terrible points; the kind of points that that are raised by someone who either doesn't live in the state or is just being negative for negativity sake. For the traffic; asides the fact that big, busy cities always have to contend with major traffic situations, the most serious traffic grid lock right now is caused by the tankers that regularly ply (and park on) Funsho Williams avenue on their way to A papa. Why are they there? Because the Federal government is currently working on their usual route (Oshodi-Apapa express) so for now, the trucks and trailers and tankers and containers have to use Funsho Williams avenue as an alternative route and anyone who lives in Lagos knows that is the state's central route for movement between the mainland and island (with third mainland bridge being the one alternative). These tankers and containers are even damaging the roads and bridges because they weren't made for taking those kind of weight regularly. If you should blame anyone, blame the Federal government for only now deciding to fix Oshodi-Apapa expressway. |

If you should blame anyone, blame the Federal government for only now deciding to fix Oshodi-Apapa expressway. Electricity? Are you kidding me? Since when has it been the state government's responsibility to generate electricity for the citizens of the state. Even if Am bode decides to start working on power generation for the people of Lagos state, you think it is something that would take thirty minutes to complete? The funny thing is that if he does, people like you would be the first to wail that it is a white elephant project. Waste disposal? Don't even get me started on that one. Recently the state government came up with a streamlined waste disposal/management system. You know what people did? They kicked against it, calling it another way for government to take money from them. People have been trying to game waste disposal systems in this state since I can remember. The Lagos state government recently placed dumpsters on busy roads and at busy intersections around the state and you know what people are doing? They are walking long distances to dump their refuse in those dumpsters just to avoid paying for waste management to evacuate their refuse. It is not uncommon now to see someone dragging large sacks of refuse down a long stretch of road just so he/she can dump it in the state dumpsters for free and avoid paying for waste disposal. How is this the state government's fault? One just can't win with you guys! Your point on infrastructures is so empty of substance that I won't even bother refuting it. On education and health, I certainly agree that more needs to be done by the state government in both sectors. However, I also realize that improving current systems and infrastructure costs money and it's not like education and health services provision are the state government's only responsibilities. Regardless, I would charge the state government to make both high priorities as they are important to the life and well-being of the citizens of Lagos state. |

boringnigerian:Your point well noted. But i strongly disagree with you on the issues of traffic and electricity. Am a lagosian av live all my life in lagos and more than 3 decade now so i don't know where u came with ur myopic imagination that i don't live in lagos. On traffic is either you dont go to work in the morning and go back home daily.i can authoritatively tell you that traffic is one of the main problem in lagos, all roads i mean all, from mainland to island i understand lagos is over populated and will soon sink if care is not taken because of populations,i live in abule egba and i work in apapa so dont tell me all those Gibberish i know what i go through daily, you can't even go with your car and not just apapa alone. during fashola there was sanity in lagos, danfo driver dare not pick commuters on the highway, what do u have know, toothless LASMA officials that are not motivated to work because there is no sanctions and laws to enforce. On Electricity don't kid yourself, you know our politician if they want to make amenities ready they can do it,thank God Apc is at the federal level, all the law is saying is Generate but some portions must be sent to the national grid, ambode should stop adding to the Environmental pollutions by buying Generators and use it to power the street light. There is nothing that stop lagos to generate its own electricity am sure you know what i mean and don't let us give them excuses for failure. On refuse if the citizen are dumping refuse on the street whose fault is that, that is why there should be a policy that will send some people to jail and heavy fine, there are loads of community services that are waiting for offenders to be carried out as a means of punishment to offenders,Ambode is just playing political gimmick because he want to win the next elections. And if you are not a paid Agent or political influencer dont u ever defend any politician cos Nigerian politician will always take care of themselves we thye Mekunu are the people that should fight for better life. 2019 IS AROUND THE CORNER,there will be loads of writing why some people should not be elected i'm gonna write wella,is time to take ou4r destiny into our hand enough of praying and calling on God for revival we will act this time. |
