My son will never take bm frm bottle except frm bwess have tried countless times he just won't take although he use to accept formula frm bottle but stopped suddenly maybe u shd change the bottle depending on how long uve been using it since he takes it before
eksbabe:
Mamas please i need urgent help.
My baby is not taking anything asides breastmilk and it has to be from source(breast). I thought i had this all sorted out cuz he used to take it sometime ago but i stopped for about 2 weeks and he also stopped taking it.
Whenever i give him bottle, he cries alot and when he even manages to take the milk(while crying, he doesnt suck the teat i just let it drop in which takes forever) he would end up throwing up. I am so worried cuz i resume Monday and he is still rejecting it. I have tried spoon and cup but it is the same.
I even took him to MIL’s place yesterday and left him there to see if he would take it but she called that he was crying endlessly cry.
Please help me oo. Giddyperson i remember u had a similar issue, how did u do it? Other mamas pleaaaaase tell me how to go about it.

Thanks sis, hope she is not too little for pap? I will try it though what choice do I have?
Giddyperson:

You have to improvise, you can't resume work with a baby that's not eating. Try to see if she would take pap in a plate and spoon. My baby vehemently rejected bottles but embraced pap with spoon. You can mix the pap with a lot of formula so that she's still getting the nutrients she needs. You can also put her in a creche close to your office (if that's possible) so that you can still breastfeed her when you are on break.

Hi mums, I'm new here.

My baby is 11 weeks old, I will be resuming work by the time she's 4 months. What food can I introduce at 4 months: pap, purees? I'm not exclusively breastfeeding.

Also she keeps have recurring rashes on her face. I've used sudo cream and agnesia powder. Initially it cleared off fast but since it keeps coming back, not clearing up fast. She sweats on her neck but doesn't have rashes there. I use all Johnson's product but just bought sebamed soap, yet to use it. I hope it works.

Please help a first time mum, thanks.

You can give your Lo pap and puree's at 4months. Fruits like avocado pear, carrot (should be cooked before blending). Some companies produce cereals for 4months, I can't remember their names but you can check online or other sabi mamas would help you with their names. Also check one of our mama's blog (alphandmaiden) for more information. It was really helpful to me, God bless her .
For the rash, I noticed whenever i use baby oil on my lo's face he develops rashes, so I stopped. So check if there is anything you might be doing that brings on the rash.
Well done mama.

Please get one quickly. A digital thermometer is about 1k or less. It gives you a better idea of fever and you can then take a decision on managing it. Any good pharmacy near you should have one. What you feel with your hand as very hot may be nothing and vice versa. Welldone new mama

Pweetiebabe:

I didn't give my baby solids till he was almost 6 months. If your baby is taking formula well then my suggestion is that you wait. If you feel you must, wait till your baby is sitting well with support (after 4 months) then you can give Gerber supported sitter cereal or pap.

That's true.. I got mine for 500.
The temperature might be due to the clothing also like I was told here. I reduced Adele's clothes and since then her temperature has been normal.

I did not mean treatment is with pawpaw water. I meant in conjunction with whatever the hospital is treating the baby with. As for the cause, that was what we were told during ANC although of course it's not in all cases.

MamaOO:

Nope. A baby with bilirubin levels as high as that cannot be treated with methods you just said ooo. At this point it’s very dangerous and can affect the brain (making it yellow) the best bet is to let the hospital treat it.

And no. It’s not always caused by malaria. We don’t have malaria where I live and my baby’s bilirubin level was almost 18 as at day 2 of his life.

I guess I should have put "sometimes" in my comment. My very close friend had twins recently and both of them had jaundice as high as 17. She was told it was malaria in pregnancy that caused it. She kept taking paracetamol when she was ill while pregnant and took only one dose of her compulsory malaria dose. It's not in all cases that malaria can cause jaundice but it does happen in some cases.

enque:
@spiceeaimee jaundice isn't caused by malaria during pregnancy. I never had malaria all thru pregnancy, and I completed my compulsory malaria dose during pregnancy but Zara still had jaundice.

The hospital I use starts testing for jaundice from 48hours after birth, the blood work is done for 3 days and the results determine how soon or not u will be discharged post-delivery.
We spent 8 days in hospital before we were discharged. A lady in my ward whose baby had severe jaundice (the levels got to 19, and the baby had 2 blood transfusions + plenty phototherapy) spent close to 2weeks in hospital.

Please stop applying skineal on your son's skin. It does more harm than good.

look for the red acalypha flower. Boil the leaves and mix the water with your son's bath water.

I'll tag you once I see a pic of the flower again. mamas have dealt with this issue severally.

Was skineal prescribed by your baby's dermatologist? Skineal is for adults. Stop using it on your baby's skin.
