Patience is a virtue, learn to be patient to read and understand. Too much of everything is bad and that is what this post is about. Too much water is bad, too less water is bad, but the right amount is healthy and good for you.

Where is the confusion?
The question is how will you know the right amount

FitnessDoctor:
Hello, guy, it's your favorite health blogger, Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor

Take 8 - 10 glasses of water per day.

This is a health rule so many health professionals stick to, in fact, I echo it all over my blog posts anything I get a chance.

Normally, I would recommend you drink according to what your body tells you since everyone's body mass varies, but that might just be bad advice as well.

According to healthcare professionals, there is such a thing as drinking excess water and they complications are deadly.

Healthcare professionals have warned of the dangers of telling people to “drink plenty of fluids” after a woman was admitted to hospital with water intoxication.

After developing symptoms of a urinary tract infection, the 59-year-old increased her water intake, drinking more than half a pint every 30 minutes, which she hoped would “flush out her system.”

However, she quickly fell seriously ill and was admitted to King’s College hospital with dangerously low levels of salt in her blood, a potentially fatal condition if left untreated.

In the British Medical Journal case report, doctors Laura Christine Lee and Maryann Noronha asked: “We frequently advise our patients to ‘drink plenty of fluids’ and ‘keep well hydrated’ when they are unwell. But, what do we mean by that? Are there potential risks of this apparently harmless advice?”

The report describes how their patient’s condition continued to worsen after she was admitted to hospital.

“During her visit to the emergency department, she became progressively shaky and muddled. She vomited several times, was tremulous and exhibited significant speech difficulties,” they wrote.

“Throughout the day she had consumed several liters of water based on medical advice she recalled from previous similar episodes.”

Water intoxication although a well-documented symptom of some endurance sports can be deadly with symptoms including vomiting, headaches and nausea and in serious cases, confusion, seizures, coma, and death.

However, there are lower chances of water intoxication if you are drinking water according to what your body tells you, rather than going overboard because you read online that 8 - 10 glasses of water or nothing else.

So there you have it.

Lies.

It hypothalamus makes it impossible for a human being to drink more than necessary.

That totally depends on your body weight/mass, your metabolic rate, your daily activities etc. But around 6 - 10 glasses per day should be good enough
Why not state the quantity in litres. All glasses don't have equal volumes.

lol. this guy don talk spoil. the last time I rubbed cream on my body, I can't even remember but I get fresher and fairer everyday. I have a very good hair now. It's full and dark. The last time I took injection was In 2008. that's also the last time I want to the hospital for treatment. I fall ill sparingly, like once in a year and all I need do is to take anti malaria drugs and in 3 days time I'm off to the field to play football. My sight and hearing are perfect. I'm easily one of the strongest and healthiest guys around. you know why? cos I take water a lot. I am an addict sort off. MY friends even had to rename me, Drinkwater, cos of the way I drink water. So what this guy is saying to me is utter rubbish. I will keep on taking my water and keep on living healthy. Drinking Water has never done any harm to anyone. Please always remember to drink water.

Dude, this is based on scientific evidence, uiubtaking water a lot' is relative except you state the volume you drink in measurable quantity like litres.

Now, let me explain what the writer is trying to say. The body needs the right amount of electrolytes to maintain homeostasis and sodium is a very important electrolyte. Now, sodium moves with water and as the kidney takes out excess water from the body via the urinary tract in form of urine, sodium goes out as well. Drinking too much then will cause you to pass mire urine which means losing more sodium and if you are then not replacing the lost sodium, it can fall to dangerously low level known as hyponatraemia which can lead to nausea and vomiting, headache, short-term memory loss, confusion, lethargy, fatigue, loss of appetite, irritability, muscle weakness, spasms or cramps, seizures, and decreased consciousness or coma.

it's too small though.. At least I use to take 5 liters per day
that means your daily activities make you require more. Like I said most people will drink more depending on those factors I listed. I normally take 3 glasses with every meal which makes it 3 x 3 = 9... Not to add those extras I take whenever I feel like... All that could add up to more than 12 glasses per day.

One day soon I'm so sure we're going to read about breathing in too much air is bad lipsrsealed
n u think that's not bad either... if u care to noe then let me enlighten u on de issue u've raised... Excessive intake of air, medically termed Hyperoxia can be detrimental to health... what happens is dat ur body requires a certain balance between the oxygen gas u inhale n the carbon dioxide gas already in ur system to ensure that the blood balances its pH (degree of acidity or alkalinity) to ensure homeostasis necessary for optimal function of the body n dis balance is actually monitored by the spO2( that is saturated pressure of oxygen,at its peak, the RBCs can no longer take in any other O2 gas inhaled) as well as paO2 n paCO2, where pa means partial pressure... Hyperoxia therefore predisposes one to hyperoxemia (increased blood oxygen) which leads to alkalosis (increased pH) with signs and symptoms such as chest pain, dyspnoea, and central nervous system toxicity (seizures, confusions, dizziness) n in extreme cases death... so u see evry tin is gud but underuse or overuse will bring u consequences, it is therefore necessary to stick to the normal...The tin is, somtin must kill a man but dat tin shouldn't be somtin u noe n could av avoided.

These health practitioner sef. This advices u to take more water daily, that says less water consumption is advisable.
One says u should consume this, another says u shouldn't, and they'll all back their points with reasons.

I know the renal system very well and the physiology behind it. infact I'm a physiologist. never is it stated that taking much water will make u lose more sodium via passing out of urine. instead it is d excess water u lose. U should understand the concept of reabsorption and secretion. Also I believe u know there is what we call dilute and a concentrated urine. having enough water in the body, will produce a dilute urine with more Water than electrolytes. however the reverse is the case in concentrated urine. and u don't want to pass out d electrolytes ur body needs. brother u can never understand d importance of taking enough water.
