After Micheal Essen had scored a scintillating goal to hand the advantage to the home side, and Barcelona were reduced to 10 men with Eric Abidal sent off, another Chelsea-Man United final was on the horizon.

Then, Aguero, did the unthinkable and i will leave you with this world class commentary by Martin Tyler that day:

“It finished at Sunderland. Manchester United have done all they can, that Rooney goal was enough for the 3 points”

It was an uneventful first 90 minutes. So mundane. Manchester United fans were even more disgusted after watching their side go 2-0 down to Bayern Munich.

But the final minutes of this game will forever be cemented in the history books.

After substitute Teddy Sheringham made it 2-2 for Alex Ferguson’s Man United in the 91st minute, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then wrote the final script.

A David Becham’s corner found Sheringham, who nodded the ball towards goal allowing Solskjaer to poke the ball into the roof of the net for Manchester United to take the lead and win the Champions League that night.

“Football!, bloody hell!,”– Sir Alex Ferguson later said after the game.
