omoluabiguy:Sir, i have said it several times on this thread. However, you know our Naija people. So, make we still advise them. Moreover, e go hard true true. I still believe how hard it is cannot be compared to how hard naija be |

omoluabiguy: Bossman: lionlee216:Guys, listen to the seniors here. Don't settle for Menial jobs. Menial jobs are what you do to get on your feet. Once everything "clicked" for you, try and get your professionalism on track. A lot of Naija people dey do well for themselves here, don't be left behind. Yes, working menial jobs will put money in your pocket and few savings but how many years can your body take working crazy hours?. If i work the hours i'm working now when i have kids, it means i won't even see my kids at all. |

Living in America don't automatically mean you're rich, don't let the exchange rate fool you (Maybe in Naija standard, you get moni). Lets face the fact, a lot of us in Life won't be rich However, America (and other western Nations) gives us the benefits of living comfortably and seeing the result of our hard works. A lot of Nigerians wants to be comfortable and worry-free: good road and schools, electricity, water, good hospitals, job security, nice car, a house, raise a family. All these things are not easily attainable in Naija. I do believe they form the basis of why Nigerians migrate in doves. So if you're thinking you wanna migrate so you can be rich. Sorry to burst your bubble, you probably will not be rich. but your standard of living will improve drastically. Keep in mind being "rich" is relative. 2000$ to some is "chicken change" while the same amount to some people is "jackpot" |

@ BlowJobs Hey bro, I was wondering if you have any insight or cases where a medical student with the j1 status under the 2 year home requirement was able to remove the waiver through marriage to a US citizen? What does it involve? Is it doable? Is it even worth considering? I really need your advise please |
| Re: Getting A Green Card By Adjustment Of Status: My Yankee Experience by lionlee216(m): 4:52am On Nov 16, 2017 |
Please tell me more about J1 visa.. What are the requirements for J1 Visa Can a student studying in Europe get a J1 visa and under what conditions Or better still, kindly narrate how you got your J1 visa from carribean. Thanks |
| Re: Getting A Green Card By Adjustment Of Status: My Yankee Experience by BlowJobs(op): 5:03am On Nov 16, 2017 |
6packdude:Marriage to a USC does not removr the waiver. You still hsve to apply. The two tricks are 1) if yiu did not receive funding form US govt or any US organizations, Nigerian govt or organizations 2) Apply for waiver early, like ASAP. 3) Make sure Nigerian embassy sends the No objection letter ASAP. |

How body TheManOfTheYear. See my responses below... 1. Came to the US a long time on Student visa. Student visa was easy back then. Na long time ago. Even the Naira had significant value compared to the US $ back then. Parents paid for all 6 years (BS and Masters) of college. 2. I studied computer science/Programming in college. 3. Got a job with a major Bank as a software developer through my school's placement office (during my last semester). Joined the company as soon as I finished. The company was in a different state, so they paid for flying me in for in-office interview, relocation, etc. 4. IT itself is a very broad word. It encompasses software development, Database Management, Networking, etc. As mentioned, I studied computer programming. So, I can only give advice about that. Even if you do not go to college for a CS degree. At a minimum you should have a mastery of software development/programming, using one of the common languages such as Java, C, C++, etc. I want to avoid derailing this thread with technical jargon. So, please PM me if you have any specific questions relating to software development in general. Or you can search the programming forum here. TheManOfTheYear: |

Bossman:Thanks for this concise reply. Now I know which path to follow. But you mentioned you came in a long time ago, how then do you manage to keep up with the IT trend and development over the years?? Did u take extra courses? Cuz IT was still at its infancy back then. ![]() Oga BJ no vex ooo,I'm not trying to derail. I just wanna clarify this IT prospects. After that no more questions. Thanks |
