The life expectancy in Nigeria is '53.05 years', i am a heavy smoker and drinker, it will be a medical miracle if i survive 40 more years so i will be ancient history by then so i dont like to think of it but judging by the way things are today i dont reckon humanity will still be 'humanly' by that time........

America would have reached her highest point of prosperity and become exhausted. There would be no such thing as a Super power - superiority among nations would be only marginal.

Africa would be competing with the West by then.

The world would have become more integrated and connected.

Monarchy would no longer exist in any part of the world. All traditional cultures would be nominally dead, or effectively and definitively dead.

The human race would be colonizing the galaxy and exploring Star systems.

Money might have lost its importance.

New forms of vehicles would be invented, powered by other sources of energy, different from fossil fuels.

Genetic engineering would be at its peak. Transhumanism would be the order of the day. Humans would subject their bodies to all forms of modification. Robots and the likes would be roaming the streets, and there would be nothing weird about it.

Homosexuality, bestiality, transexuality, incest and so on would no longer be seen as aberrations, because the spirit of conservatism would have died off by then, and the humans of that age would view the world through an entirely different prism of values.

The patriachial system would have collapsed as well, sexism would no longer exist, and there would no longer be any need for Feminism. Racism and tribalism would be dead too.

The Abrahamic religions would have become history, and with them the concept of God as we know it. There would be new "religions" though, ones sharing similarities with the "Enlightenment" religions of the East (China and India), and New Age ideas from the West.

And so on..........
These predictions would be valid only if the world doesn't experience a Nuclear Amargeddon before then (probably before the end of this century), as it's a very likely occurrence that will most-definitely happen at some point, as escalating tensions indicate.

All I know is that in that 1000years.. People will go back to crude days. Ppl will see unclothedness as swag and nobody will be wearing cloth.

Sex will be very affordable and rape will be rampant. There will high level of security and crime will be reduced.

Talking about Nigeria, Nigeria might av been divided before 1000years and afonja by then will officially be proclaimed as slaves to the Fulanis
Hope you would have denounced your IGBOSHIP and present slavery status by then.May be to fully become Almanjiri Aboki or Gambari grin

We will have destroyed everything with science, sin, and war.

Those alive will probably migrate to the Moon or Mars..

Jesus might have come before then. Then our world could be a beautiful place to be.

I wish I could be here to witness it whichever way it goes.

people will adopt insects as mate, find a way to have sex with the nostrils and ear, masturbate on the streets and they will be like, "I was born like this, accept me for whom I am"

I just got thinking about what our world will look like in a 1000 years.

You can answer from any POV or perspective you want, but mine's gonna be from an archaelogical one.
This is because I believe that this current civilisation, epoch if you will, will not exceed the next 5000 years, and that's giving it a long long time. One short reason: technological advancement + advanced sociopaths = nuclear weapons capable of obliterating human existence as we know it.

So, I feel that in a millenium, archaelogists (if they're still called by that appelation then). will sift through the ruins of this epoch and find plastic bottles, used condoms, carcasses of electronic appliances, hectares upon heaps of car, train, plane and ship scrapyards, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Wutang CDs, polythene bags; in short all these biodegradable materials with half-lives of thousands of years.

So, what's your take on what the world as we know it would look like in a thousand years?

100 years from now would be a great time to be alive because the technological advancements that would be in place then would be something beyong what we can imagine now..there would be less death rate and by then we would have humans in other planets like mars or even find a way to make inter galactic travels, oil would be a tale as whale oil is to us now.and a greater more power source of renewable afficient energy would be in use.i can only imagine how the mood of transportation would be then.the kinda weapons that would exist, the kinda video games that would be played (thats if they are still called that then) very sure augumented reality would be integrated into practically everything by then..i wonder if religion would still be around by then.so much to wonder ,

People will no longer be able to think on their own as they will be using their superfast android 90.0 robotic brains by then.

In short, robots will completely take over from man with everyone having their own robot double performing every humanly task you can ever imagine.

Crime will be no more as criminals will be arrested even before they commit the crime due to advanced predictive technology that examines human minds.

There will be no more countries.

Death will be no more. It's just a matter of changing your power bank and upgrading your life to newest version.

There'll be no more religion.

People can easily change their race, their sex, their body size. All will be customizable.

Very apt projection you have here. I personally don't think Nigeria will last for the next 200 years. Maybe different nation-states, but not as an indivisible entity.

Logically you can extrapolate the extend of advancement to come in the next millennium by examining the advancement that took place 1000 yrs ago. Within those years , Airplanes, cars, nuclear technology, space research came into existence. Also, there was a great human psychological and behavioural evolution witnessed with those years.
.
Scientifically, humans just use a little above 10% of their brain power or capacity,, the most genius of humans use like 15% of theirs......In the next 1000 years, due to the level of sophistication, robotics, advancement..any human still using 10-15% of their brain power will be regarded as dull and archaic.
guess you haven't heard of well optimized expert system deployed in adaptive situations. these are smarter than humans and thus any human using even 4percent of his brain at that time will be regarded as a genius.

guess some of u don't realize the drawbacks to automation. it creates smart machines but very dumb humans since machines are self learning. and can learn faster than any human possibly could.

The earth will have become a paradise just like God wanted it when he created Adam in the garden of Eden. All the wicked people and those involved in immoral activities now will be gone and we will be at the apex of Jesus millennia reign. Then the Jesus prayer shall be fulfilled by then, let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

AI will take over(accounting students would be fewer grin ),

VR will be readily affordable and used for controlling machines easily, also used for tourism.

Car manufacturers will stop producing manually driven cars, more quadcopters will be used for delivery services (konga).

More robots will be on the streets grin

Most Nigerian states would have been sold on e-bay

I think all these your projections will manifest even before 200 years, with the exception of the bolded. That one is gradually happening even now. I think the current euphemism used to describe it is 'Memorandum of Understanding'.

The very first thing that came to my mind is Nairaland. There may not be Nairaland by then.

Well all I know is that by then, I'd be a fossil.

The world will be in chaos!!! Immorality will be at its peak!!!

The Technology will be mind-boggling. Our scientists and technologists may by then have developed space probes and bodies that can travel at the speed of light.

More discoveries will be made in Astronomy and other fields.

Homosexuality, Transgender, Paedophilia will be nothing by then even in Nigeria. 79% of people in world will not believe there is a God.

Most Churches will become shrines.

The world may have had a new evolution of man Homo funny wink
u mean oyibo scientists or Nigerian scientists by this ur our scientists angry

do you have any idea how old this planet is,the mineral Zircons from Jack Hills has been carbon dated to 4.401 billion years old making it the oldest material on earth thus far..d longevity of evry single planet or astronomical body in this galaxy solely depends on our sun and how long it would be around before it eventualy dies out..and that is still billions or trillions of years away( hopefully).

You remember the excuse the Gabonese referee who awarded Algeria an 'ojoro' penalty in that Algeria - Nigeria 2018 world cup qualifiers gave?

He said it was based on the intention of the nigerian player to foul the algerian.

It's funny I know, but he said it is the new FIFA rule.

So the technology I have in mind is that which can put you in trouble just because of your intent.

And you will agree with me that every conception of mankind be it criminal of legal, starts from thoughts... intent... yeah!

The world would have conquered death by that time.

Gender reassignment would have been taken to a higher level in the sense that men could get impregnated by women, such that couples could decide who should carry pregnancies.

It will be an interesting world and i will be watching with keen interest from yonder.

At the bolded, you're quite optimistic bro, I think that chaos and insanity will ultimately be our nadir. But yes, man is resilient enough, and from the ashes of this present civilisation, I think a more hardened species will emerge.

The word of God is the only thing we can correctly predict would still stand strong and powerful in the next gazillion years (should Jesus tarry). Every other thing: kingdoms, empires, economies, superpowers, technologies, entire races etc. are all subject to change or total obliteration. But the life giving word of God that has lasted since from before the formation of the earth will outlast everything else still standing sure, true and changing lives as it does today even forever and ever.

With rapid advancements in science and technology, two surefire things are bound to happen in the next 1000 years; The world, through same technology, implodes on itself or divines a way to sustain human existence, maybe permanently.

We may not be able to confirm the existence of aliens but the fact is that, undoubtedly, there are extraterrestrial threats to human existence (meteors, planetary collisions, christian rapture and all-what-not), but all these are nothing compared to the threats posed by human technology.

Hence my prediction.. In the next 1000 years, humans MAY destroy humanity.

Oh my! By then, the generations around will be awed about our lifestyles. Our IT fashion will be considered hip or even Victorian. The faces will surely look a tad different from ours...what with all the chiseling, metamorphosis and plain plastic surgery. The world and the people in it will be different as we know it. Some notables will hear it! People like Ooni of Ife would have their gravesides heavily disturbed, Obasanjo may not be allowed to sleep in peace, Mugabe would surely have his remains scattered among people fascinated about human greed and unrelenting quest for power...we will be considered gods of sorts.

Hmmm...I just wanna live my life in this generation the best I could without too much worries about the next millennial and their conducts. May God grant me peace biko grin
