Hello Seniors,

Sent our passports to Accra on 27th October, got delivered on 30th October by DHL.

I haven't heard from Accra and neither seen any update on MyCIC profile. Was it supposed to take this long?

I need the passports for a family trip in December. I hope we would get the passports back before then?

Kindly share your experiences.

Thanks

Mine took 5 weeks to get it returned. 4 weeks to get approved.

Do your best to remember the addresses and dates.
you may have to call up people or go through old receipts or even emails in order to trace back d timing.
Remember you cant skip periods....every day shld be accounted for.
In my case where i couldnt precisely remember dates, i just chose an arbitrary date eg 1st jan-1st sept.
Lastly, make sure u either print/screenmunch/write out all d details of your eapr form. just in case u get an address history or travel history ADR..
Cheers.

There's a way to check your eApr form even after submission.

Wooooow, 5 weeks. I guess we might need to take some chill pills.

We are in the 4th week though. I believe we will get an update this week.

Thanks for sharing.

Hello All,
I am at the verge of starting my certificate evaluation through WES and require your advice.
I have MBA and BSc from 2 different institutions. For the MBA, getting the transcript sent to WES and confirmed by the institution is no issue.
But for the BSc, I'm afraid getting transcript from the school is like waiting forever.
Now, the issue is should I just evaluate the MBA although the BSc course appear to have more job opportunities in Canada.
What if I need to evaluate BSc at a later date, will it fly on payment for the MBA evaluation or I would have to Make another payment.
Thanks for the anticipated response(s).

If you don't wait to have them evaluated together and opt to have only the MBA evaluated now, you will pay again to have the Bsc evaluated later.

Thank you Glitteringstar. I was considering the Federal Skilled worker program. I will read up. Thanks again.

GlitteringStar:

Hello Teds,

Are you applying under the Canadian Experience Class? If yes, the answer to your question is No. To be considered under the Canadian Experience Class, you cannot count work experience you gained while enrolled as a full-time student. Your work experience must have been gained while on a valid work permit, such as the Post-Graduation Work Permit (in your case, the one year work experience gained under the work permit).

However, the only exception to this is NOC 4012. You may be able to count experience as a teaching, research or lab assistant at a post-secondary educational institution toward the work experience requirement, You can read this post to know more.

You can use any other paid work experience under NOC A,B or O gained within the last 10 years OUTSIDE of Canada to gain points for foreign work experience. You will have to get a valid reference letter for it though.

Canadianfly:

Calm down. I too I'm claiming Canadian work experience. It doesn't matter if you have work permit before or after school. What matters is was the job FULL TIME AND PAID? Also that it didnt interfere with school, i.e. you worked in summer or when school was out. I got my work permit before I was done with school,so all full-time work I did when school was out, I'm claiming. Plus the one i did after school.
I did 5 months full time one summer and 2 years 6 months full time after school. So I'm claiming 3 years.
However in your case, part time work doesn't count because it's not up to 40 hours a week. In other words, you can only claim your 1 year Canadian work experience which is still a good 35 points since that's your actual full time work. Don't be greedy grin

Hope this helps.

Update: See below where it says "or an equal amount in part time".......maybe that part time can count, but have no idea what that line means. Or maybe that 2 years part time will be calculated as a year? Then you can claim 2 years? Research more on this yourself though

Lol. smiley

It is not confusing.

Are you an international student? If yes, I believe you must have a full-time status in order to work on or off campus. Read more here. Therefore, this means you cannot gain points for the 2 years work experience because you were not working on a valid work permit.

After you create your profile and fill in your details, you will be eligible for both the Canadian Experience Class (because of your Canadian work experience) and Federal Skilled Worker program. You cannot choose which program you are invited to apply for. The system will determine this based on the information you enter.

The FAQs below can also help to provide answers to your question.

Can I ask to only be considered for one of the programs under Express Entry?

No. Under Express Entry, the system will find which programs you qualify for based on the answers you give in your profile. If you qualify for more than one program, we will decide which one to issue the invitation to apply under. You can choose to decline an invitation to apply if it is not under the program you were interested in. But, if you do this, there is no guarantee that you will be invited again under a different program.

I have been working in Canada for the last six months but didn’t get points for work experience. Why not?

Under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), to be awarded points for skilled work experience, you must have been:

* legally allowed to work in Canada in one or more jobs listed in Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification;
* working full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), meaning 30 hours of work per week

We do not count work experience if you were:

* studying full-time while you were working,
* not legally allowed to work in Canada.

Can I be eligible for more than one program under Express Entry?

Yes. Depending on the information in your profile, you may be eligible for more than one program through Express Entry. In that case, you will be invited to apply for one program based on this order:

* Canadian Experience Class (CEC),
* Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), then
* Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

For example:

* If you met the criteria for all three programs, the system would send you an invitation to apply for the CEC.
* If you met the criteria for CEC and FSWP, you would also get an invitation to apply under the CEC.
* If you met the criteria for FSWP and FSTP, you would get an invitation to apply under FSWP.

You can’t choose which program you are invited to apply for. The system will sort profiles based on the information you enter. If you decline the invitation, the system will not re-invite you under the next program. You will go back in the pool, and if we invite you again, the same order will apply.

Who cannot apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class?

The Canadian Experience Class is for people who already have skilled work experience in Canada. You are not eligible for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class if you gained your work experience:

* without the proper authorization (for example, illegally, working without a visa),
* in a job not classified as skill type 0, or skill level A or B according to the National Occupational Classification,
* while you were self-employed, or
* while on a student work permit (co-op, off-campus, or on-campus).

Can I count work experience that was part of my education toward the work requirement?

No. Co-op terms and apprenticeships completed before graduating do not count as skilled work experience. They are considered part of an educational program. The work experience you can use to apply for the Canadian Experience Class must not have been gained while studying full time on a student permit (for example, experience gained while on a co-op work term).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/questions-answers-by-topic.asp?top=29

Conclusion:
You can only use the one year work experience gained while on a valid work permit. Have you created your profile? I guess not. Note that the CRS tool is used to determine the projected CRS score only. It is the system that will determine your actual CRS score based on the information you enter.

I am having a slightly different issue, WES received both my certificate and Transcript in June 2017 ,WES sent a verification request to my School which my school has responded , the first was through Email which WES acknowledged verification replied , it was shown on my WES account "WE received document from your institution" but after 24hrs my account status is now showing "We are waiting for your institution(s) to verify your documents". So I went back to my school Federal University of Technology, Akure to resend through courier which they did after I paid 7500 for the courier, the verification reply got to WES last week Thursday, WES acknowledged the Verification reply from my school on Friday which showed on my status again that we received document from your institution but to my surprise again , on Saturday when I checked my WES account my status was changed back to "We are waiting for your institution(s) to verify your documents".

It is really frustrating,
please do anyone knows the reason why ?
I have sent a mail to WES several times even when the first incident happned all they said was my school should resend which they did. I need ur help on this please , I have been on WES issue for over 6 months , pls I need ur candid advice

@duuduu

Have you resolved this issue? Has your ECA been completed? Did you go to their Twitter as someone advised.
