Xbee007:according to these sahara reports link; http://saharareporters.com/2017/11/21/new-video-shows-boko-haram-killing-soldiers-adamawa-state there where some screengrab posted from the video. and there is no picture of a t72. only a captured broken down vickers mbt. Nevertheless there alot of ambush these days and attacks on villages especially in adamawa states and also suicide bomb attacks. its like Bokoharam has changed tactics, they av shifted there attention to adamawa because these state has been free for probably a year now from any form of attacks. i think our military chiefs should also step of there game and also the airforce can help by paying more attention to Adamawa by av a spy eye in the sky. and dont let us forget the dry season is coming there wil be alot of ambush and attack. |

these was the only recent video BHT released; 10 days ago. the video shows an ambushed that shows dead soldiers, other fleeing and abandoning two toyota hilux, one okota APC. and at the end of the vido shows BH captured vickers MbT in action against our own troops. it wasn't a T72 mbt, our journalist cant differentiate military hardware and there too lazy to make research. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RVTe8kTVtY |

COAS CHARGES ARMY CHAPLAINS ON PRAYERS FOR TROOPS The Chief of Atmy Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has charged Nigerian Army Chaplains to intensify prayers for security personnel particularly troops combating terrorism in North East Nigeria. He therefore, urged the Chaplain Services and other religious bodies to devise means of keeping and encouraging families left behind by troops fighting Boko Haram Terrorists in the battlefield. The COAS gave the charge in his keynote address to declare open the Nigerian Army Directorate of Chaplains Services (Roman Catholic) Training Week/Conference and Retreat 2017 at Maimalari Cantonment Officers Mess, Maiduguri on Tuesday, 21 November 2017. Speaking through his representative, the Theatre Commander Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, he commended the choice of location of the conference describing the retreat theme "Together in the Battlefield: The Effectiveness of Multi-Faith Collaboration in Combating Terrorism" as very apt and timely, considering the fact that Borno and other North Eastern states have been engaged in a battle against insurgency for long. The Director of Nigerian Army Chaplain Services (Roman Catholic), Brigadier General (Very Reverend Father) Charles Iroegbu in his welcome address identified Soft Power as a technique used by religious directorates in winning the heart and mind of the people rather than relying solely on Hard Power that involves the physical use of force of arms in combating terrorism. He said, the hosting of the Training Week/Conference and Retreat in Maiduguri, is to bring the presence of God by prayer intercession and to also add spiritual impetus to the fight against Boko Haram Terrorists by way of encouraging the troops. The week long Training Week/Conference and Retreat 2017 kick started with an Opening Mass officiated by Arch Bishop of Maiduguri Diocese, His Lordship, Rev Fr Dr Oliver Daoeme as a prelude for the Conference Lectures and papers that borders on Religion and Inter-Faith Relationship and The Role of Chaplain/Imams in Combating Extreme Radicalism, Terrorism and Injustice in Nigeria were delivered by erudite clergy men Rev Fr Dr John Bakeni and Bishop Naga Williams Mohammed who is also the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) respectively. Present at the occasion were the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf, Borno State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, represented by Alhaji Mustapha and Chaplains from all the various formations and units of the Nigerian Army amongst other invited guests. NIGERIAN ARMY INTRODUCES NEW LANGUAGE POLICY FOR OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS 1. The Nigerian Army has introduced a new Language Policy. The study of foreign and local languages is world-wide practice among armies, in which officers and soldiers are encouraged to be multi-lingual. The Policy will foster espirit-de-corps and better communication with the populace to enhance information gathering, civil-military relations, increase understanding between militaries when operating abroad and assist officers and soldiers to perform their duties professionally. 2. It is to be noted that English remains the official language in the Nigerian Army. Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa languages could be used during Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities or interrogation. Therefore all Nigerian Army personnel have been given one year to learn the three major Nigerian languages. Invariably, by December 2018, all Nigerian Army personnel are expected to learn the three major Nigerian languages. The standard of proficiency to be attained is the basic level. Certificated proficiency level will attract Language Allowance. 3. The ability to speak the 3 major Nigerian languages will be an added advantage to those applying for recruitment or commissioning into the Nigerian Army. Therefore, prospective candidates are encouraged to learnNigerian languages other than their mother tongues. 4. Before now, the Nigerian Army officially encouraged the learning of French, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese and Swahili. French language is an assessed subject in some career courses and examinations for Nigerian Army personnel. Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman Director Army Public Relations |
