The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, applauds the successful conduct of the Anambra state governorship election

- He said the outcome of the election showed that the Buhari administration had provided a level playing ground for all

- Willie Obiano receives his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission

The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, has said the federal government cannot stop people from selling their votes during election periods.

The minister made the statement when praising the successful conclusion of the Anambra state governorship election, Vanguard reports.

He said the outcome of the election showed that the Buhari administration had provided a level playing ground for all.

The minister said: “Frankly speaking, I didn’t follow the Anambra election, so, I cannot really talk about vote buying or ballot snatching. What I know that I can speak on is that number one, the Muhammadu Buhari administration provided a level playing field for all and he showed that from the manner he restored the security aides of Governor Obiano.”

“If the people now decide to sell their votes, there is nothing the government at the centre can do but we will continue to drum it and let them understand that vote is the single most powerful weapon they have and once they sell it, they can’t come round again until the next four years to complain about the kind of leaders they have."

Mohammed stated that the APC administration wants the people of Nigeria to decide the outcome of every election.

Meanwhile, the incumbent governor and winner of Saturday, November 18 gubernatorial election in Anambra state, Willie Obiano has received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

NAIJ.com gathered that the governor received the certificate on Wednesday, November 22 from the INEC, following his victory in the Saturday’s governorship poll.

It was gathered that the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Anambra, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, handed over the certificate of return to Obiano at INEC’s headquarters in Awka, the state capital.

their is realy not much you can do about that so long you dont have laws against it...votes is the personal property of every nigerian...

they can do with it what they want....its just the sad reality of things in a democracy with loop holes...

any nigerian can become president so long he or she has the money....money talks not morals....

Was it the people that cooked this food they used in deceiving the masses during the day of anambra elections or Apc

The actual fact is: FG couldn't stop it because Apc was part of the market, and stopping it would mean Apc coming distant fourth and behind Chidoka.
