Great thread @blowjobs, very educative and down to earth too. I wish you success in your marital union, may it be both fruitful and blissful.

Information is power. The impact of this thread to liberate people especially youths from unseen bondage, dogma and backward mindset while opening their eyes to opportunities beyond the horizon is highly commendable. May you never stumble. All the best in your AOS quest.

Alright
Didn't really care
Not trying to be insultive, just my mind.
No....lol.
You did care or u wouldn't have asked.
No problem in that.
I'm not upset.
But if u read further, I explained that he schooled in the U.S. (and met my late mother).
He never had any intention of staying in the US..but the war was occurring and he was kind of unable to return to Nigeria at that time.
He was stranded...so to speak.
During the course of that time (and being a healthy and young heterosexual male)...he met and fell in love with my mother.
However, he already had his green card 2 years before marrying my mother.

Now am forced to say this,i think it's high time you manned up and take charge of your home.you need to stop this your MS K said this, she said that, she wants this, she wants that...it's obvious she's the one calling the shots here and it's a big aberration that should never be allowed to linger on.this is how it starts and before you know it,you won't have any inputs whatsoever in the running of the house if care is not taking.
So be strong as men is seen to provide leadership in the home.
All the best
grin grin grin grin. Thank you for the advise. But you got the picture wrong. Pigin dey hard to explain everything sometimes. If i say Mrs K said this or that. What i actually mean is "Mrs K suggested that" or "Mrs K's opinion is"

She's calling no short. I think i have to elaborate better the kind of person she is (maybe on some other post) and the kind of person i am.

Also i want you to know that here is not like naija. Everyone has an opinion, even kids. America is a very opinionated country, you can't disregard other person's opinion just because you want to "take charge". Regardless, she listens to me and take my advise 99% of the time. That's why we have been able to work on our issues.

Let me write the direct transcript of our conversation like i remembered it

Mrs K: (on Amazon looking for a winter jacket)Babe i like this one, should i buy it?

Me: (checks computer sees price) chineke!!, 189$?. No!, e too cost. I think you can get it cheaper on cyber Monday. Why not wait or check eBay. you have to buy a size larger though.

Mrs K: it's not that expensive you know. Besides, its a brand name. And why a size larger?

Me:So it fits next year, you know, just incase we got preg

Mrs k: i actually been reading about that and post baby fats. I really think we should change our diet to include more vegetables and healthy options. It's for our own good and also the baby. I need your support about it. You know i can't do it on my own. Think about it as you finally getting the six packs.

Me: with all the food wey you chop sef, you no even change. I'd have to think about it. Make a list of things we need to cut out of our groceries and the list of the healthy options. Let's see what we need to improve on

Mrs K: (Making a list) (first on list, Pizza)

Me: (saw pizza). No, not pizza. You can decide not to eat pizza.

Mrs K: (makes the list without pizza). I'm gonna buy you baby books for xmas (while giggling uncontrollably).

Me: (stares at her)

Mrs K: c'mon, its cute. It gets you prepared mentally.(still laughing)

*Notification comes up on her Facebook*

Conversation changes to getting an oil change , back to winter jacket, to the amount of points i have on Jet blue airline, to spending xmas in New york.

@BJ,

Wow!!..let me say I salute your calmness and your maturity from your comment above.let's just say I was a bit harsh with my comment but I was glad you got the point I was trying to make unlike some who claim to love you more than you love yourself and wanted to murder me for given you such a "bad" advise.
My comments so far on this thread have not only been unbiased but balanced and were centered solely on what you wrote here which may not be exactly how it is in your home in real life,so to those shouting gender equality,Africa mentality etc,i excuse your ignorance.
To your point, yes everyone opinion matters which ultimately is the same msg I was trying to pass across and should not be one sided..God be with you.

@BJ, big congratulations on your wedding...thankfully it has come and gone now,you can now focus your mind on things that matters....making your marriage works cos from some of your posts recently,it's obvious you would need extra efforts to keep your marriage going..I said this because irrespective of where you married from,no woman would like that you said happened (investments back home) and would be happy, remember you once said her colleague has been trying to turn her against you,it won't stop there just because you are now married,so pls do more to solidify your relationship.
Secondly,I would advise you focus more on investing where your family is at this time so you don't let the woman start attaching any truthful approach to what she has been hearing.
I work in the XYZ,(if you know what that means),Pls know today that any investments you do anywhere on the surface of this earth equally belongs to her if not entirely,so invest wisely.(hopefully I get to talk privately with you soon).
In all,you just entering a new chapter in your life which can have an adverse effect on what comes out of your life in the US,so all your thoughts, deeds and prayers would have to center on how to make your family succeed and not that wild feelings either of you can just wake up one day and decides to take a walk
.it's not gonna be your portion IJN...it may not end well..pls take heed.
It's well with you.
lionlee216:
Hmmm, deep words esp @ it may not end well when either of you wakes up one day and decided to end it when there are kids.. it simply means CHILD SUPPORT.

Like you ad, it won't be his portion IJN
Thank you. I understand exactly what you mean. However, I need to sort out some other things before taking some steps about that (i don't have much assets right now anyways). Once other things are sorted out, i go back to the drawing board and see how you suggestions can be worked out. Doing what you suggested right now will come off as "bad vibe" regardless of how noble my intentions are.

you suppose code am like that.

So how do you differentiate between real ladies and transgenders?
For transgenders, it is obvious a lot of time. And most will let you know they are trans. Also, lots of trans move with each other (likes attracts). So, maybe if you attract trans, you need to check yourself grin grin

YungChorus:
Women can make sexual advances towards you and you say no and turn them down. If you flip the script, you can be sued for sexual Harassment.

Also, don't let no one intimidate you

They ask dumb questions

Can you throw more light to these quotes from your post. Thank you.
Just the general script of "be careful around women". Don't do the naija kind of "toasting" a girl (persistent chasing). you'll come off as a stalker and sexual predator. let it be a mutual attraction first

A lot of us might get intimidated with white skin and American "uptown-ish" accent. Thinking cos they live in America, they are good or supposedly know lots of stuffs. Na lie o, some are as dumb as a rock. and a lot are really ignorant. Which leads to asking you dumb questions like "do you have internet in Africa", "Do people have cars", "have you seen this before, do you know this, do you know that blah blah blah"

Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Unfortunately, we ain't doing anything for thanksgiving.

I INSTRUCTED my wife few days ago (yeah, i am taking charge grin grin grin grin grin. actually laughing typing this) to work on Thanksgiving IF her work will be open.
Her family wants us to come over for thanksgiving but i am really tired of seeing their faces every time and laughing to white people's jokes like it was really funny and they trying too hard not to offend me all the time. I believe they should be tired of seeing my face too. I just need a break. So, i told her to work today (she's also really tired of going back home)

Also, the pay is double today being an holiday so it has something to do with money too. grin grin grin. i like us having enough money grin

PS: was invited by some folks over for thanksgiving, not sure i'll be going. but if i did go, i'll share pictures.

Permit me to ask, What are you thankful for this year?

Thankful for everything this year has been - good or bad, its all worth celebrating. Many had a rough while others had it rosy in every situation we just have to be thankful.

Personally I'm also thankful for this thread you've shared with us all. You kind off took in almost a million plus Nlders into your very personal life just to encourage them to be better.

We thank you for this and wish you happiness. I hope to set a project on this for 2018.

Don't do it yet. it sounds like a sudden surge of cash. Register your business. Make it official with documentation evidence. Wait a while, make transactions with your account. build a healthy account balance, travel to some neighboring countries for leisure (if you can. Traveling is education) then apply. That way, you have a Higher chance.
Correct; it honestly worked for me like that. I got my visa at last after several(i mean above 6times) attempts. Story change this 2017
