Why are we preaching double standard here. Does it mean that some people are above arrest warrant? |

PrettyRita: Madam, pls no be fight, cool it down. EFCC said otherwise. Even at that, the arrest was with a valid warrant from magistrate court. Beside am not even talking of arrest or no arrest. what i simply means is if he has no insect in his cupboard, he can go there and clarify issues with them now. |

freeze001: Well am not for or against. But double standard is not helping us in this country. AVM Amosu has retired from the force, he was arrested, detain and charge to court on this same Arms procurement issue. AVM Badeh has also retired from the force, he was also arrested, detain and charge to court on this same issue. A lot of serving military officers were invited, some were arrested as well, detain and charge to court. Even some civilians who are part of this conspiracy were arrested. My question is Why is ITA EKPENYONG own different. Do we have diff law for diff set of pple in this country. |

jcflex: There was an ongoing investigation and an arms panel investigation committee set up, those persons were all invited for questioning, perhaps indicted and arrested accordingly. In Ita's case, the DSS was never part of that probe, he'd also never been invited by the EFCC so why the crude arrest drama? Why also invite the press like some public display of power? It's d sane madness DSS displayed in raiding and arresting judges and today they look like fools customers they can't substantiate any of their trumped up accusations. Is due process a crime in Nigeria? 1 Like |

Mugu and APC president Buhari are on the mission to intimidating and destroying PDP and the image of the GEJ's administration officials. While APC corrupt cabals and officials are having free hands in stealing and tell electorates in public that "they don't owe Nigerians an explanation on how money is spent". - Lai Muhammad. Mugu continues to go about harassing all the PDP government officials refuses to join APC. This current chief of army staff Buarati was in arms procurement arrangements. Why is mugu not arresting him 2 Likes |

jcflex: That is the problem, he is not evading arrest. He is well within his rights and he has the gallant DSS men serving him. Why shouldn't he defend himself? He is not supposed to go to EFCC uninvited. The i.diots didnt invite him for anything. In fact, whatever they needed explanation for should have been channeled to current DGSS not former DGSS. Then in the case were the current cannot answer, the former comes in. Not going to a whole former DGSS with media and 50 policemen to arrest him. Is a show of shame. 4 Likes |

Pesuzok: There are erroneous arrest warrant my dear and this days any stu.pid judge who has been bought can issue arrest warrant like candy. This is exactly what is playing out here and EFCC needs to be put in their place. Let them follow proper channel. If they need clarification on something, write the current DSS DG, if he can't explain, then invite the former DGSS, if he refuses to honor the invitation without a valid reason, then declare him wanted and go for ur commando arrest warrant and arrest him. 1 Like |

morereb10:I totally disagree. Whether the warrant is bought or not, it remains valid. The former DG is a citizen and can be arrested for questioning. If money was traced to his personal account, would he not go and defend himself. Let us leave Sentiments aside when commenting on national issues |

The so call dullest stone and block headed Buhari is doing nothing other to do those things that prove us to animals and continue to look regard this country and its citizen as cursed people, without direction. Ask Magi from now till tommorrow if the DSS has committed any offence, I swear this foolish senseless local goats will never prove any positive case that will warrant his arrest. Pesuzok: Are u saying the offence he committed or have purportedly committed does warrant an invitation for explanation, rather carry 50 police officer with media to storm his house and arrest him? Does that not sound fishy to your ears? I mean if this is not media trial style of prosecuting, why carry press to his how in grand-style arrest? Something you can still achieve in a stealth way. I may not be too old now but I wasn't born yesterday. |

[quote author=danduke85 post=62640316]Former Director General of the Department of State Services, DSS, Ita Ekpenyong has reacted to his failed arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), over alleged involvement in arm purchase for the Nigerian Military. An Unnamed source close to the former DGSS told Vanguard that the attempt to arrest Ita was strange, despicable and an afterthought since Ekpenyong was never invited or questioned in relation to the arms probe. He explained that the former DG of the DSS has no business buying military equipment for the Military since they have their laid down procedures and policies. According to him, two years after the Presidential Panel on the Arms Probe was inaugurated by President Buhari, no mention was made of the involvement of the DSS so it was strange when the EFCC came from nowhere to arrest the innocent man. He noted that since he has handed over to Mallam Lawal Daura, if the EFCC needs clarification on any matter that is within its jurisdiction, it should request such information from the current DGSS. Where the current DGSS cannot answer then he can be invited to make such clarification. “EFCC had never before now invited or questioned the former DG on any criminal breach, only for its operatives to barge into his home, with a view to arresting him as a common criminal. Ekpenyong had made it clear that the DSS under his watch had no role whatsoever to play in the arms purchase since it was not within its remit to acquire arms for the military. The DSS played no role at all in the arms purchase and that is the truth. The DG served this country faithfully and transparently and since leaving office in 2015, nobody has had any reason to accuse him of taking anything that does not belong to him. As a tradition, the DSS makes returns to the Presidency on March 1 every year on its operations and nothing done by the agency can, therefore, be hidden from the government. Even assuming that there are issues with DSS management, which the EFCC needed to investigate, the current DSS DG is there to answer to such matters without storming Ekpeyong,s home with guns in the wee hours of the day. The equipment that were procured to secure this country during his tenure are there with their papers and the vendors are known. So, nothing is hidden. It is apparent that the EFCC is either actuated by ulterior motives to intimidate and blackmail the DSS through orchestrated media trial or simply trying to dent the image of the Service and its personnel for reasons best known to them." https://www.vigil360.com.ng/health/26-top-news/4522-ita-ekpenyong-speaks-on-his-failed-arrest-by-efcc.html[/quote Useless stealing leaders. |

jcflex:Did u read the write-up at all? We all know how EFCC can publicize her frustration when their invitation is not honoured, especially, when a high profile individual is involved. I’m tempted to believe that no formal invitation was issued in this case. It is clear that EFCC and DSS have scores to settle. Meanwhile, where is PMB ‘cos his opinion is critical. His relatives are out there on a show of shame |
