NAF DECORATES RECENTLY PROMOTED SENIOR OFFICERS, HONOURS LATE INSTRUCTOR PILOT

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has decorated 22 Air Vice Marshals (AVMs) and 28 Air Commodores who were recently promoted by the Air Council. This was the first time such a large number of senior officers would be promoted and decorated by the Service. Also, decorated posthumously was Late Air Commodore Gabriel Ochai who died in an air crash on 24 August 2017 in Kaduna. His wife, Mrs Rita Ochai was in attendance to receive the rank insignia on behalf of her late husband. This was done in an effort to sustain the morale of NAF personnel who fight day and night to keep the country together.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who decorated the senior officers alongside other dignitaries and their spouses stated that the promotion of the senior officers was premised on their past excellent performances and the resolve of the Service to constantly reward excellence. “Promotion is not a right but a privilege given to selected deserving officers to enable them undertake higher responsibilities,” the CAS added. The CAS reminded the newly promoted senior officers to be always guided by the Service’s social contract with the Nigerian people. According to him, “Nigerian tax payers would expect the new generals to work harder to ensure that their communities are stable, safe and secured”. Air Marshal Abubakar congratulated the newly decorated senior officers and their families while advising them to show commitment to their responsibilities and uphold the core value of excellence for which the NAF is renowned. The CAS charged the newly decorated senior officers to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation and brace up for the challenges ahead.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Administration (COA), Air Vice Marshal Lawal Alao, noted that the Armed Forces of Nigeria annually undertake promotion exercise to motivate its officers towards rededicating themselves to assigned duties and service to the nation. He pointed out that the NAF has done well and made history by promoting 22 Air Vice Marshals and 28 Air Commodores. This, he said, was a demonstration of pragmatism, visionary leadership and commitment by the CAS and the Air Council to sustaining the morale of NAF personnel.
The CAS and selected dignitaries, all of who were assisted by the spouses/relatives of those being decorated, decorated the newly promoted senior officers.

Finally somebody figured it out, I ve been going through this posts and I swear I ve heard enough of super tucano to last me a life time. Stolen funds were stashed on an island belonging to US, arrangements have been made to transfer the money to Nigeria but US blocked it saying the money is in dollars so they have a claim on it (absurd) we fought tooth and nail then they changed tactics saying unless they or IMF or World Bank are allowed to "manage the money for us" (presumptuous) to avoid mismanagement, it will not be released. So we are virtually paying zero naira for 12 tucanos with infrastructure, training, guided munitions e.t.c. a favourable deal in my opinion.
I can well believe it and the USA's attitude doesn't surprise me.

3 dozen = 36 too small, the BMPs are also in negligible numbers. I think our doctrine had been with AFVs instead. There is no such thing as cheap IFV but yes I want Proforce to create one but to me Proper IFVs is an urgency

We have like 40 IFVs but we need 4,000 for NA to carry 40,000 soldiers or only one third of our 120,000 soldiers. Oil is $55 per barrel and militants have started blowing oil pipeline again. How we go take buy IFV now?

There is cheap IFV, BTR-80 is like $ 1 million brand new. NATO Puma IFV is $ 5 million, that is 5 times the cost of one BTR-80 and the BTR is good with 30MM gun, can kill any Boko Bastard anti-aircraft gun Toyota dead in 1 minute fire on target. Give Proforce contract. he will build us 800K IFV and that is cheap, believe me.

Look at it like this my brother, If the Russians with a full functioning industry can build a BTR-80 @ $1m why then would Nigeria without these same industry build cheaper. Everything built locally shouldn't be expected to come "cheap"

Much less than 4000 Sir. NA has Motorised Infantry and Mech Infantry. Mech Inf. are the ones that use IFVs. I dont know the present orbat of NA but we had 6-8 Mech Bn circa 2012-2013. A Mech Bn of the NA should have 88 ifvs in its pool.
So you can do the maths there Sir
