SupremeCourt:
There is cheap IFV, BTR-80 is like $ 1 million brand new. NATO Puma IFV is $ 5 million, that is 5 times the cost of one BTR-80 and the BTR is good with 30MM gun, can kill any Boko Bastard anti-aircraft gun Toyota dead in 1 minute fire on target. Give Proforce contract. he will build us 800K IFV and that is cheap, believe me.
its high time we give PROFORCE a chance. we can not rely solely on importing military hardware it wouldn't sustain us if we are to defeat terrorism.

The Egyptian Air Force is running air strikes over the last night based on intelligence.

The law enforcement forces continued to pursue the elements responsible for the brutal terrorist incident targeting the worshippers in Northern Sinai, based on confirmed intelligence and in cooperation with the sons, the air force over the last few hours has eliminated a number of spots. The terrorist elements are taken as a starting point for the implementation of their criminal acts, which contain quantities of weapons, ammunition, explosive substances and their administrative needs.

Thanks anyway. Its just that I doubt the efficiency of these guys (AFSF). Despite their presence in NE,BH still has the effrontery 2 carry out attacks. They seem 2do lots of photo ops

PRESS RELEASE ON BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS ATTACK IN MAGUMERI

At about 6.00pm yesterday, 25th November 2017, suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists attempted to attack Magumeri. As a prelude to the intended attack on the town, the terrorists attempted to dislodge the Forward Operational Base in Magumeri, Borno State.
However, soldiers of 5 Brigade Garrison located in the town repelled the attack. The troops fought gallantly. Unfortunately, 3 soldiers lost their lives, while 6 others sustained injuries. The bodies of the late soldiers and the wounded have been evacuated. The wounded are receiving medical attention. Some platforms were also attacked and damaged by the terrorists. Further developments regarding the incident will be communicated accordingly.
The 8 Division wishes to assure all residents of Magumeri that everything is being done to ensure their safety and security. To this end, they are to continue pursuing their legitimate activities without any fear.
Please disseminate this information to the general public.

Nop thats not a yardstick to judge the whole situation.

the 72MSF enjoyed alot of air support and mobility to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.

BHT are changing tactics and such is the COIN WAR; very complex and changes with time. Alot of factors are to be considered. You give light skinned hilux vehicle to another set of Sf and you expect to perform miracles, Joining the army should not mean a suicide mission.

Do you remember during the dark days when we are having heavy casualties every day, it seems we forget things easily. BH is seriously wounded, they are just looking for cheap popularity.

Although am not saying we should under estimate them with there hit and run tatics.

All the arms of the armed forces still has foot soldiers in the N.E.

Only that the numbers of airforce and naval boots on ground has been greatly reduced over the years.

We have like 40 IFVs but we need 4,000 for NA to carry 40,000 soldiers or only one third of our 120,000 soldiers. Oil is $55 per barrel and militants have started blowing oil pipeline again. How we go take buy IFV now?
4000 IFV's wow! what are we? defender of the universe?

There two different units with different mandates. 72MSF is direct action unit whose roles are associated with mobility, attack, raid and intercept and move on to the next target.
while AFSF are involved in clandestine operations against targeted elements HVTs etc. they don't hang around or hold grounds. They seem to chill during the day and hunt at night from what I gathered. And just like 72msf they do fighting patrols too.

400 IFV should do.

Complemented by maybe 500 APCs and 300 MBTs. (100 T-90s + 200 T-72s)

for a grand total of 1200 armored vehicles.

who are we going to fight with 4000 IFVs? There's so many constraints to consider in fielding such amount of vehicles.

LOL , every one just churn numbers without considering how many vehicles a Mech bn or Mot bn should have. Even 300 MBT is a lot, standard by the book is 251

thanks @odunayaw

there is another angle in which we are not looking at- which is the vast and enormous size of the north-east theatre.

we have lost alot of brave soldiers due to one reason; fighting with light skinned vehicle which offer zero protection.

do you know how many sections, patrols, and villages our men need to protect. And every of these sections either mobile or immobile we need these IFV to defend themselves and the lives of the people they are meant to protect.

the entire 400 IFV is not enough for the N.E, let alone the entire NA.

Bidexii I understand what you mean perfectly but see it this way. There is a set doctrine on how many vehicles a bn or brigade can hold at a particular time. Asides that, you need to ask what's the deployed numbers of the NA at any given time and I don't mean the umbrella Op Lafiya Dole.
If a fighting Bn consists of 730+(which is mostly the average strength of a Nigerian Bn)how many APCs cum IFV should be with them ( don't forget this vehicles carry 2+10 or 3+8/9). Do the maths and you'd see why just mentioning we need Bleep thousand isn't a good assessment

Hope you get my point bro
